Titan Forge Games has officially launched SMITE 2, ushering in a new chapter for the fan-favorite MOBA. Now available for free, the game brings an upgraded experience developed entirely in Unreal Engine 5. Thanks to cloud gaming services, such as GeForce NOW, those who want to experience the powers of the gods in SMITE 2, can do so without high-end hardware.
The free-to-play launch introduces five new Gods, including Aladdin, the latest addition to the ‘Tales of Arabia’ Pantheon. Aladdin’s unique mechanics, such as wall-running and his Genie companion’s game-altering wishes, add fresh layers of strategy to SMITE 2. His ultimate ability, featuring a one-on-one duel via his magical Lamp, promises to be a highlight for players.
Joining Aladdin are four iconic Gods:
- Geb, the Egyptian God of Earth
- Mulan, the Chinese Ascendant Warrior
- Agni, representing the Hindu Pantheon
- Ullr, the Norse Pantheon’s versatile archer
With these additions, SMITE 2’s roster now includes 45 playable Gods, with more to come as the development team focuses on integrating fan favorites from the original game.
SMITE 2 Game Modes and New Features
Players can dive into the action of SMITE 2 in the cloud, with updated and new game modes:
- Joust: A fast-paced 3v3 mode now featuring an Arthurian-themed map.
- Conquest: Enhanced with significant updates to maps and gameplay features.
- Assault (Alpha Version): Offering a glimpse into its development stage.
The update also introduces “Aspects,” a new system providing optional enhancements to certain Gods, focusing on specific abilities for varied gameplay styles.
It’s amazing to look back on how far SMITE 2 has come since the early prototypes a little over 2 years ago. We couldn’t have gotten here without the invaluable feedback from the SMITE fanbase throughout Alpha, and the game is now objectively better than its predecessor in so many areas.
