Sony Delists Several Low Quality Shovelware AI Games

PlayStation AI games delisted

With the advancement of Generative AI being more accessible and producing more complex and precise tasks with great efficiency, we have seen several studios invest in the technology to improve game production efficiency.

If you’ve dabbled with AI sufficiently, it’s easy to see how it can be a great tool to save time and resources while providing a second opinion on the fly and picking up mistakes you’ve made or offering a different perspective you haven’t thought of.

What it has also done is provide an opportunity for some to create low-quality content with very little effort and reap the benefits of work that can sometimes jump the barrier of copyright infringement.

Several developers have talked to IGN not too long ago about this particular problem, where a lot of low-effort games as of late started crowding various game storefronts and end up drowning out their own games as a result.

On February 5th, the staff at TrueTrophy noticed that several such games had been delisted from the PSN store, most notably games that were using copious amount of AI generated assets from developer RandomSpin Games.

It is unclear as of yet if any other developer/publisher have seen the same fate since.
