Split Fiction thrusts players into a mind-bending narrative. Two writers, Mio and Zoe, find themselves trapped in a simulation of their own stories. The game’s premise is intriguing: Mio and Zoe, seeking a lucrative publishing deal, visit the shady Rader Publishing headquarters. An accident throws them into a shared simulation. Bouncing them between their respective sci-fi and fantasy worlds while the nefarious company attempts to pilfer their ideas.
Side Stories: A World of Variety
Hazelight Studios is known for its commitment to co-op gameplay variety, and Split Fiction takes it to the next level with Side Stories. These optional adventures, accessed through mysterious portals, offer a diverse range of experiences, from a daring mountain climb with giants to snowboarding under fire.
The Side Stories are a result of Mio and Zoe being stuck in the same simulation. With the simulation attempting to steal their unfinished stories and ideas. This leads to some truly bizarre and chaotic situations, such as becoming pigs to discover how sausages are made, chasing enemies while water-skiing, and even embarking on a spacewalk gone wrong.
These Side Stories not only add to the gameplay variety but also delve into the characters’ pasts, revealing forgotten ideas and secrets about themselves.
The Friends Pass and Crossplay
Like its predecessors, Split Fiction features the Friend’s Pass*. This allows one player to invite a friend to play online for free. Hazelight also plans to introduce crossplay, enabling seamless co-op across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC (via Steam).
Cloud Gaming Hopes
With the growing popularity of cloud gaming, we are hoping that Split Fiction will make its way to services like GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming. This would allow even more players to experience the unique co-op adventure that Hazelight Studios has crafted.
