More of the weekly top selling games have been available on Stadia vs other cloud services – for the last 16 weeks!
6 months ago, we began tracking the availability of games from the GFK (Growth from Knowledge) Weekly Top 40 game seller list in the UK – which covers sales across all platforms. The GFK list can be obtained by gaming journalists from a number of sources including GamesPress.
Every week, we capture the number of multiplatform games on the list, which we consider the bar for what games could possibly be expected to come to a cloud platform. This number is typically around 20 (or about half the list of 40 games). The remaining games are predominantly Nintendo exclusives w/ Playstation and XBox exclusives appearing to a lesser extent.
We then also capture the number of games listed that are available on Stadia, GeForce Now and Amazon Luna. We are not yet including XCloud – it is not (yet) a standalone cloud service like the others and would rank at the bottom of the list for game availability most weeks.
Here is how the data looks:
You can see that Stadia and GeForce Now are the top services in terms of these top game availability with Amazon Luna trailing in third.
Stadia typically bounces between 5 and 10 games being listed per week. In the most recent week, the Stadia games listed were:
- FIFA 2022
- Just Dance 2022
- AC Valhalla
- Far Cry 6
- Marvel’s Avengers
Other games from the Stadia library that often make an appearance on the list are:
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Various Outright Games
- Various Other Ubisoft Games
- Life is Strange Games
- Resident Evil Games
- Various Other Square Soft Games
- Farming Simulator
- etc.
We should also note that Five Nights at Freddy’s has previously appeared on the list in the last couple months as well.
The listed games from the last week available on GeForce Now were AC Valhalla, Far Cry 6, Marvel’s Avengers as well as Dying Light 2 + a Fortnite bonus pack. Amazon Luna had AC Valhalla and Far Cry 6. Sonic Colors Ultimate could potentially give Luna a third game in the upcoming week.
It’s nice to see Stadia not just holding its own against these other services but actually being on top most weeks! Our backlog of games we want to play that are available on Stadia is definitely years long at this point!
