Project Century Gets a New Name: Stranger Than Heaven

stranger than heaven

SEGA officially announced the title Stranger Than Heaven during the Summer Game Fest 2025 showcase. The game is a brand-new project from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the team behind the Yakuza, Like a Dragon, and Virtua Fighter series. Previously teased under the codename Project Century. Additionally, this marks the studio’s first original IP in years.

A teaser trailer accompanied the announcement, offering a brief look at the tone and atmosphere of the upcoming title. This is the second time the project has been shown publicly. The first teaser premiered during The Game Awards 2024.

While few concrete gameplay or story details from Stranger Than Heaven were shared, SEGA’s decision to spotlight the project at one of the year’s major showcases suggests it will be a priority title for the company.
