If you’ve got a Nintendo Switch 2, you don’t have to wait. For now, a free Debut Demo is available now, giving you a chance to explore the world, dive into ruins, and try out the game’s fast-paced combat. In addition, you can even submit feedback through an in-game survey.
Furthermore, this is the first action RPG from the team behind Octopath Traveler, Bravely Default, and Triangle Strategy, and it’s built around real-time combat, open exploration, and time-spanning adventure.
Real-Time Combat, Fast Travel, and Hidden Ruins
This isn’t your usual turn-based Team Asano game. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales shifts to full real-time combat, blending fast movement with tactical weapon choices. Elliot can equip seven weapon types, including swords, bows, and even a sickle and chain that pulls enemies in close. Each weapon can be customized with magicite to change how it works or boost its stats.
You’re not alone out there. Faie, a fairy companion, joins you in battle and exploration. Her powers let you warp short distances, zip around the world at high speed, and access hidden areas. One ability even sends you flying into walls if you’re not careful, which the devs admit is kind of hilarious.
Furthermore, the game encourages exploration. You’ll find hidden paths, breakable walls, secret dungeons, and shrines that test your skills. Some areas lead to extra loot, others to full-on challenges. The demo even hints that exploring beyond the main quest markers will reward curious players.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is coming in 2026
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is set to launch in 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.
In the meantime, Nintendo Switch 2 gamers can already jump in with the free Debut Demo. It lets you explore a chunk of the game, fight through ruins, uncover secrets, and try out different weapons and magicite. Once you’re done, you’ll be invited to complete a short survey and share your thoughts with the dev team.
This is the first action RPG from Team Asano, and it’s already shaping up to be something different. If you’re curious how real-time combat feels in an HD-2D game, this is your chance to check it out early.
