The Alters Launches June 13 With New Trailer and Game Pass Day-One Release

The Alters finally arrives on June 13, and 11 bit studios is marking the occasion with a brand-new launch trailer. The sci-fi survival game, developed by the creators of This War of Mine, will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and day one with Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.

The trailer, set to Soko’s “We Might Be Dead by Tomorrow,” introduces Jan Dolski, the game’s central character, and sets the stage for a survival journey that goes far beyond managing resources.

One Man. Multiple Lives. One Way Out.

After crash-landing on a distant planet, Jan finds himself alone, or so he thinks. To survive and escape, he must build a mobile base and create alternate versions of himself known as “alters.” Each alter reflects a different path Jan never took in life, from decisions he avoided to risks he never pursued.

These alters are essential to survival, taking on tasks Jan cannot manage alone. But cooperation won’t come easy. Some alters question Jan’s choices or believe their own lives were better lived. You’ll need to decide whether to treat them as tools or equals.

At the heart of The Alters is a relatable question: what if your life had gone differently? Every alter represents a different answer. The game explores personal identity, regret, and the weight of choice not just for survival, but for meaning.

As Jan faces his alternate selves, you’ll wrestle with decisions that feel human, not just strategic. The question isn’t just how to get home but who gets to come with you.

Bringing the Vision to Life

Development on The Alters began back in 2020, with the project growing steadily through a challenging few years. Game Director Tomasz Kisilewicz shared how the journey to launch wasn’t easy.

“With the team steadily growing, the pandemic reshaping the way we work, and all the usual challenges of game development, these past years have been both creatively rewarding and full of hurdles,” Kisilewicz said. “But now, as we stand on the brink of release, I’m proud to say we’ve delivered a game that stays true to its original vision, thanks entirely to the determination and talent of our incredible development team.”

The Alters releases June 13, 2025, across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available day one on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
