The Developer of ‘The Day Before’ Has Announced The Studios Closure

In what may come as some surprising news, the developer of the newly released title, The Day Before, has announced that the studio has closed its doors – 4 days after the game’s release into early access.

In a statement that was published on both the developer’s official website and on Twitter/X, Fntastic stated that The Day Before had failed financially and that the studio no longer had the funds to support the game.

The Day Before certainly had a troubled development. The game was initially one of the most wish-listed titles on Steam when it was unveiled back in 2021, with a June 2022 release initially planned, which was then delayed until March 2023.

At the start of 2023 however, the game was removed from Steam due to what Fntastic described as a ‘trademark’ issue. This caused the game to be further delayed until November 2023 and began speculation in the video game community that the game was not real and would never be released.

Fntastic remained resolute however and despite another short delay, The Day Before launched into Steam early access on December 7th, 2023. Unfortunately, The Day Before did not go over well with players and critics and the game very quickly dropped to a ‘Mostly Negative’ Steam rating with gamers reporting that the game had launched in a severely broken state.

Now, 4 days after The Day Before’s official launch, Fntastic has announced its closure. The Day Before at the time of writing remains on sale on the Steam store and the servers are still operational, although it is not sure exactly what the future will hold for the game at this time.
