Naughty Dog is expanding The Last of Us Part II Remastered with a major update to No Return, its roguelike survival mode. The April 3 update brings two new playable characters—Bill and Marlene—along with four extra maps, adding more variety and strategy to each run. PlayStation 5 owners will get all of this as a free update.
That same day, The Last of Us Part II Remastered PC version finally arrives, featuring improved visuals, expanded control options, and full ultrawide monitor support. Whether you’re here for the new content or jumping in for the first time, here’s everything you need to know before launch.
No Return Mode Gets New Content
The No Return mode in The Last of Us Part II Remastered is getting even more to sink your teeth into with the April 3 update. Two new playable characters, Bill and Marlene, bring their own playstyles that shake up each run. Bill’s Smuggler abilities let him grab a custom pump shotgun from dead drops, and he earns double rewards—but he can’t dodge melee attacks. Marlene’s Risk Taker loadout comes with a custom assault rifle and lets her reroute paths once per run, making high-risk plays even more tempting.
The update also adds four new maps based on major locations from the game. Overlook offers high-ground combat above Seattle, School takes you back to Ellie and Dina’s tense WLF battle, Streets drops you into the overgrown ruins of Hillcrest, and Nest throws you into Abby’s nightmare—a building crawling with Infected. Whether you’re chasing high scores or just trying to survive another round, No Return now has even more ways to test your skills.
PC Version Adds New Features and Enhancements
Alongside the No Return update, The Last of Us Part II Remastered PC version launches on April 3 with several upgrades designed for PC gamers. The game includes support for Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3.1, and frame generation, allowing for better performance across a range of hardware. Players can also tweak settings like texture quality, shadow resolution, and ambient occlusion to fine-tune their experience.
Ultrawide monitor support means you can experience the game in 21:9, 32:9, or even 48:9 resolutions across triple-monitor setups. Keyboard and mouse controls offer full remapping, adaptive mode support, and the ability to mix inputs from both a controller and keyboard. DualSense controllers are also fully supported, complete with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
PC players who log into their PlayStation Network account will also receive 50 in-game points to unlock bonus features, including a new Ellie skin inspired by Naughty Dog’s upcoming game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
If you’re playing on a high-end PC, the game supports 4K resolution, an uncapped frame rate, and DirectStorage for improved loading times. Even lower-end systems and handheld PCs can adjust settings to find the right balance of visuals and performance. These settings ensure the game runs well on a variety of setups.
PS5 Players Get the No Return Update and More
PlayStation 5 owners aren’t being left out—everything coming to The Last of Us Part II Remastered PC version will be available on console too. The No Return update launches the same day as the PC release, bringing the new characters, maps, and additional bug fixes to PS5 at no extra cost.
On top of that, a new 2.0.0 patch adds extra trophies and refinements to the game. Players who link their PlayStation Network account will also get 50 in-game points to unlock bonus features, including a new Ellie skin featuring Jordan’s jacket from Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. This skin is included in the 2.0 patch and can be unlocked via in-game bonus points on PS5.
These updates expand No Return and add polish to the game for returning players.
