The 1930s cartoon-inspired shooter, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, gets a major voice casting reveal and new trailer during Summer Game Fest. PlaySide Studios and Fumi Games revealed during the Summer Game Fest livestream that Troy Baker is officially joining MOUSE: P.I. For Hire as its leading character, Private Investigator Jack Pepper.
Baker’s casting comes alongside a brand-new trailer that gives fans another look at the noir-styled shooter’s hand-drawn aesthetic and pulpy detective setting. Baker is best known for iconic roles such as Joel in The Last of Us, Booker in BioShock Infinite, and more recently, Indiana Jones in The Great Circle. Now, he steps into a darker, black-and-white world where mobsters and mystery rule the streets of Mouseburg.
Troy Baker Brings Jack Pepper to Life in Noir Cartoon World
In MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, Troy Baker plays Jack Pepper, a former war hero turned private investigator. His latest case starts with a classic setup, a damsel in distress, but quickly unravels into a deeper conspiracy. Set in Mouseburg, the game’s noir-inspired city is filled with corruption, gang activity, and unexpected enemies.
Baker called the role a project he’s been following since its first teaser. He praised the 1930s film-noir aesthetic, stylized gameplay, and visual direction. “I cannot wait to keep working with the team to bring Jack Pepper to life,” Baker said.
The casting of Baker marks a major addition to the game. His past roles have earned him widespread recognition. He’s also appeared in Love, Death & Robots, HBO’s The Last of Us, and will reprise a role in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach later this year.
