Ubisoft has announced a major leadership move. Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot have been appointed co-CEOs of Ubisoft’s new subsidiary. This move marks the next step in the roadmap revealed earlier this year.
The new subsidiary, first introduced in March, aims to accelerate the growth of Ubisoft’s flagship franchises: Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry. It plans to do this by transforming them into billion-euro brand “ecosystems”. Backed by Tencent, the initiative is designed to give development teams more autonomy and agility. This is expected to help deliver multi-platform experiences and meet player expectations.
A Blend of Legacy and Fresh Perspective
Derennes and Guillemot bring complementary strengths to the co-CEO roles. A Ubisoft veteran of over 35 years, Christophe Derennes has played a pivotal role in the company’s global growth. He notably co-founded Ubisoft Montreal and shaped its editorial and production strategies. Most recently, he led Ubisoft’s North American studios. He earned respect for his collaborative and people-first management style.
Charlie Guillemot represents a new generation of leadership within the company. He is a gamer and technologist at heart. Guillemot’s career has bridged management and innovation. After leading Ubisoft’s Owlient studio and later co-founding the Web3-focused Unagi studio, he returned to Ubisoft in 2025. He came back to help steer internal transformation efforts. His focus on gameplay quality, collective intelligence, and player-first design reflects Ubisoft’s push to evolve. This is in line with the industry’s rapidly changing landscape.
