Joining a cloud gaming session with a simple click? Good enough. Welcome back, Stadia! Jokes aside, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members now have a new way to invite friends to their cloud gaming sessions. Starting today, players using Xbox Cloud Gaming through web browsers or supported TVs can generate and share invite links, making it easier to jump into multiplayer games with others.
How Invite Links Work
While playing a multiplayer game via Xbox Cloud Gaming, Game Pass Ultimate members can create an invitation link through the game invite menu. By selecting the “Anyone” tab, they can copy the link and send it to friends through direct messages, group chats, or social media platforms. Players who receive the link can instantly join the session via their browser or compatible TV.
Joining a Cloud Gaming Session
- On Web Browsers & Mobile Devices:
- Open the invite link using a supported browser.
- Sign in with an Xbox profile.
- Click “Play with Ultimate” to join.
- On TVs:
- Open the invite link on a PC or mobile device.
- Click “Join on a different device” to generate a short code.
- Open the Xbox Guide on a TV and select “Have a game session code?”
- Enter the code and start playing.
Key Details to Keep in Mind
- All participants must have an Xbox account, and some games require Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
- Players need to own or have access to the game to join a session.
- The number of players that can join via invite link depends on the game’s multiplayer capacity.
- Session hosts can revoke invite links at any time to restrict new players from joining.
- The ability to remove existing players from a session varies by game.
This new feature enhances the multiplayer experience by simplifying how players connect with friends, making Xbox Cloud Gaming even more accessible and social.
