Xbox has entered a multi-year strategic partnership with AMD to co-engineer silicon for a wide portfolio of devices. This includes its next-generation consoles. The news was shared by Xbox President Sarah Bond. She highlighted the collaboration as a key step in delivering “deeper visual quality, immersive gameplay, and AI-powered experiences” across the Xbox ecosystem.
This new agreement expands on the companies’ long-standing relationship. It follows the reveal of the ROG Ally Xbox Edition, a handheld gaming device developed by ASUS in collaboration with Xbox. The ROG Ally Xbox Edition is one of the first Windows-based handhelds optimized out of the box for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and the broader Xbox ecosystem. This device showcases the type of flexible, portable hardware Xbox is now actively supporting.
With AMD on board, Xbox is doubling down on its vision of a unified gaming platform. This platform spans traditional consoles, handhelds, and cloud-first devices. The next generation of Xbox hardware will continue to support the existing Xbox game library. It will not be tied to a single store or form factor. This approach aligns with Xbox’s goal of putting players at the center. This is true whether they’re gaming on a console, PC, or handheld.
