GeForce NOW Integration in Xbox Web Store Pages Rolling Out

The Xbox team announced today the official integration of GeForce NOW into Xbox Store Web Pages. When you visit a supported game store webpage, you’ll see a new “Play with Cloud” option that let’s you chose to play your game from a variety of cloud gaming services – including Xbox Cloud Gaming of course, but now also GeForce NOW and (seemingly soon) Boosteroid.

The “integration” appears to be really nothing more than just a link to each cloud gaming service – right now the GeForce NOW link is to – https://play.geforcenow.com/mall/#/loginwall?utm_source=microsoft&utm_campaign=store&utm_medium=web. This will probably serve mostly as an advertisement for these 3rd party services – letting Xbox players know of their different options for playing each game.

This highlights one of the great things about Xbox titles, though! You can now play them in a lot of different places and at a lot of different price points. GeForce NOW’s Ultimate subscription tier represents the upper-echelon of visual fidelity. The ability to play your Xbox collection on RTX 4080 servers will no doubt appeal to a lot of hardcore gamers.

As mentioned above, this integration is really nothing more than a link to GeForce NOW. We haven’t heard anything about further GFN integration into Xbox consoles themselves. Right now, you can play GeForce NOW on an Xbox console via the edge browser, but it isn’t a one click experience.

We also haven’t heard anything further about the ability to play purchased games within Xbox Cloud Gaming (Xcloud) itself. Xbox last teased that this is coming this year. We do hope that these links to GeForce NOW and Boosteroid from webstore pages aren’t all that Xbox had in mind.
