Before I get into today’s article, I would like to introduce myself. Hello Stadians and potential Stadians. My name is Darryl. I am a fresh journalist here with Stadia Dosage, I’m sure you have heard of them, but haven’t heard of me. I have been a strong supporter of Google Stadia since Project Stream, and I believe that as of Today, April 27th 2022, they are strongly contending to be the best cloud gaming platform.
Before Project Stream, I had a history of playing pretty much all of Sony’s Products; I consider the Nintendo’s 64 still to be the best console I’ve ever owned along with Sega’s Dreamcast. After playing Odyssey on Project Stream, I made up my mind that, once Stadia released, I was going to buy and support it, but I never expected to like it to the point that it’s my main platform.
I like to consider myself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to the topic of Stadia, but, like any good journalist, no matter what I may personally think of Stadia, I want to bring you the facts and entertainment of reading a juicy article packed with content.
As a streamer, I’m particularly interested in changes/improvements to streaming tech. Stadia already has a lot of potential when it comes to streaming; if you boot up your laptop and open a game, even if it is a trial, you can start streaming directly to Youtube with no extra hardware needed! If you are crafty enough, you can stream from your phone and your Chromecast as well for $0!
The following tweet caught my eye this week:
As shown in the above image, YouTube is planning to release a slew of new features for streamers. Whether you stream with Google Stadia’s direct streaming functionality or using your own hardware and software, you should be excited!
There are many features Youtubers have been wanting for a while now. One popular example is Gifted subs. While this may not be ground breaking for you, the streamer, this is without a doubt a very good addition for your viewers! Gifted subs is definitely on my personal wishlist for Youtube streaming.
Another wish of mine is for deeper game integration that lets players hop in and join you on any game with a button that is embedded in Youtube chat. Yes, this is a nod to you Google Stadia! I’m excited to learn what is announced in this space.
As the tweet above says, an additional benefit for streamers of using Youtube is that the platform does not require you to be locked in to only streaming on Youtube; so, if you care to stream your games to more than one audience at a time Youtube’s policies allow it. These next few weeks should be a great time to try (or try again) streaming w/ Youtube!
