Xbox Cloud Gaming (part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate) arguably offers one of the most diverse libraries of games, including everything from racing to survival games to the ever-important sports titles. However, in this article, I will go over the best games from the FPS genre, otherwise known as first-person shooters. The rules for this are simple: these games must be on Xbox Cloud Gaming, and I can only include one game per franchise. So, no. You won’t see Halo Infinite and Halo: The Master Chief Collection both on this list. Let’s dive in!
Doom Eternal (2020):
The first game we are going to go over is the latest game in the massively popular genre-starting franchise, Doom Eternal. This game takes the enjoyable rip-and-tear gameplay from its predecessor as you once again play as the Doom Slayer who wants to end Khan Maykr’s plan to wipe out humanity. This game has an adrenaline-filled campaign where you must fight through hordes of angry demons but it also has a multiplayer mode called Battlemode which sees players take on the role of either the Doom Slayer or a demon and must battle it out for supremacy. This game was developed by ID Software and published by Bethesda Softworks, this is also the most recent playable Doom game. First Person shooters start with Doom and the series continues to innovate.
Alongside being available to Xbox Cloud Gaming subscribers, Doom Eternal is also available on popular PC cloud gaming services NVIDIA Geforce NOW, airgpu and Boosteroid. So, you can enjoy this game on most major cloud gaming platforms,
Battlefield 1 Revolution (2016):
The next game on our list is Battlefield 1 Revolution (which is the base game plus the premium pass). Originally launched in 2016, you take on different terrains and participate in many battles that happened during The Great War of 1914-1918 (that’s World War 1 for those who don’t know). This game is graphically beautiful with a range of different and interesting weapons from across the globe. This game has a highly competitive multiplayer, and this version includes four expansion packs which weren’t a part of the original Battlefield 1 base game. This is the best Battlefield game we have seen in the last decade, especially with the lackluster releases of Battlefield V and Battlefield 2042.
Alongside being the best Battlefield game on Xbox Cloud Gaming, you can also check out Battlefield 1 Revolution on Boosteroid, NVIDIA Geforce NOW, and Shadow PC. So, if you want to experience The Great War in the cloud, then you have plenty of options.
Halo The Master Cheif Collection (2014):
Yes, I alluded to this inclusion at the very top of the article. Halo The Master Chief Collection is the collection of the greatest Halo games spanning from Halo: Combat Evolved from 2001 all the way up to Halo 4 in 2012. Through this series of games, you fight through different alien races including The Flood, but your main rivals are The Covenant who want to wipe out the human race. This game franchise has been a graphical showcase of power for Xbox since Halo 2 in 2004, so this game collection is definitely beautiful and the storylines through these games are an eye-opening look into a new universe.
Halo The Master Chief Collection is one of the greatest Xbox Game Studios releases and alongside being available on Xbox Cloud Gaming, this game is also available on Shadow PC. This game should hopefully launch on NVIDIA Geforce NOW and Boosteroid soonish due to Microsoft’s agreements with NVIDIA and Boosteroid.
Far Cry 6 (2021):
The next game on our list is one many gamers should be familiar with Far Cry 6. In this game, you play as the guerrilla fighter Dani Rojas, who is trying to free the fictional Caribbean island of Yara from the dictator Anton Castillo (played by Giancarlo Esposito) and his son Diego. This game is another graphical powerhouse and is another strong entry in the long-running Far Cry franchise published and developed by Ubisoft.
Alongside being available on Xbox Cloud Gaming, Far Cry 6 is also available on NVIDIA Geforce NOW, Shadow PC, and Amazon Luna.
Quake 2 Enhanced Edition (1997 Game 2023 Remaster):
The next game on our list is Quake 2, now this is the 2023 remastered version of the classic 1997 game. This game is the classic arena-style which is what most video games in the genre were around the time, and it comes from the developers of Doom, ID Software. In this game, you play as a Marine known as Bitterman who takes on the alien race known as the Strogg, who are using deceased human bodies to create cyborg soldiers. This game oozes nostalgia, and any gamer who played this back in 1997 will love this remaster. This remaster was done by NightDive Studios, who has also remastered the other Doom games among many other titles.
Alongside being on Xbox Cloud Gaming, this game is also on cloud gaming platforms NVIDIA Geforce NOW, Boosteroid, and Shadow PC.
