GFN Thursday Forza Banner

It’s another GFN Thursday jam packed with new game releases. We count 11 new titles on GeForce NOW and 11 existing titles getting Xbox and Microsoft Store support. The new titles are headlined by Forza Motorsport – a simulation like racer from the Forza team with photo-realistic graphics that are unmatched in the genre.

In addition, GFN would like to point out the launch of a new wireless router from Acer (the Predator Connect W6) that comes with cloud gaming QOS (Quality of Service) baked into its firmware.

  1. Having cloud gaming QoS baked directly into the Acer Predator Connect W6 firmware is a genuinely welcome feature. For fast-paced titles like Forza Motorsport, where even a brief latency spike or buffer hitch can send you careening off the track, prioritizing game packets makes total sense.
That said, from my own experience troubleshooting streaming setups, even the cleverest wireless QoS algorithms struggle to beat the unpredictability of local airwaves. I spent months battling random micro-stutters over Wi-Fi before finally running a dedicated physical line back to my distribution switch. Dropping a standard 10/100/1000 network transceiver https://serverorbit.com/network-devices/network-transceiver-modules/10-100-1000-en into the uplink port gave me a rock-solid Gigabit connection that immediately eliminated those frustrating compression artifacts and frame drops. Software-level packet management on a router helps a lot, but having that steady, uninterrupted pipeline on the physical layer is still the ultimate insurance policy for cloud gaming.
Do you think smart router firmware like this will finally bridge the latency gap for wireless cloud streaming, or is a hardwired connection still an unavoidable necessity for serious play?
