The Master Chief Could Be On His Way To PlayStation
“Master Chief, do you mind telling me what you are doing on that ship?”
“Sir, I am on my way to PlayStation 5!”
Push Square has reported on a rumour that Halo: The Master Chief Collection could be coming to PS5 in 2025.
The rumour originated from a known insider ‘Nate The Hate’ who stated the following on his podcast:
“Games that I have heard will be released multi-platform in 2025 beyond the obvious include Flight Simulator… and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.”
In addition, Nate stated that Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Flight Simulator will also be available on the Nintendo Switch 2. With Xbox looking to offer major support for Nintendo’s new console.
He also mentions that the rumoured remake of Elder Scrolls Oblivion will also be a multiplatform title. Another title briefly mentioned is the rumoured Gears of War Collection, which he also says will likely come to more platforms outside of Xbox.
Could Halo Really Come To PS5?
Well, the answer is yes. It has been no real secret that Xbox is moving towards a stronger multiplatform strategy. We have already seen several Xbox Game Studios make the move to PlayStation such as Pentiment, Sea of Thieves and Grounded.
You also need to take into consideration that Call of Duty has remained multiplatform and that we know that DOOM: The Dark Ages will also be coming to PS5.
From a business standpoint, it makes perfect sense for Xbox to bring these franchises over to other platforms. Halo MCC would have stopped moving the needle for Xbox in terms of sales a long time ago. A PlayStation release could bring a new breath of life to the game. The same could be said for other franchises such as Gears of War, Forza and even more recent titles such as Starfield.
