A Roadmap For Avowed Has Also Been Unveiled
It is a big news week for fans of Avowed! Obsidian has dropped a brand new update for the game as well as a new roadmap for the rest of 2025.
Spiders Be Gone
One of the big highlights of update 1.4, which is available now, is that the game now has an Arachnophobia mode. When activated, this mode will replace the in-game spiders with round floating orbs. Don’t be fooled, though; they will still be able to hurt you!
Update 1.4 also makes a range of improvements and changes that is based on community feedback, including:
- Map Exploration Enhancements
- Once most of a map’s accessible areas are explored, the fog of war will now fully clear.
- Entering a city on an overland map (e.g. Northern Paradis in Dawnshore) will now reveal that portion of the map.
- Increased radius for fog clearing as you explore.
- Critter Loot Drops
- Critters can now be defeated—and may drop loot!
- New Party Camp Feature
- Players can now wait at the Party Camp to advance time.
- Improved Soul Pod Functionality
- Soul Pods now dispel illusions (except for Ryngrim’s entrance, which still requires Yatzli’s help).
- New Settings Options
- Chests now optionally appear on the minimap.
- Power attacks with the Bow and Arquebus can now be canceled with a new setting.
Mouse and keyboard support has also been added for the Xbox console version of the game.

The Road Ahead
Obsidian has also shared the content roadmap for Avowed for the rest of 2025. The Spring features are live now but between the Summer and Winter we can expect to see:
- New weapons and armour
- New abilities
- New game plus mode
- Photo mode
- New weapon type

Avowed launched for Xbox Series consoles and PC in February 2025. It was generally well-received by gamers and critics alike.
