Amazon Luna today put out their monthly blog post announcing their June games. This is on the heels of the discovery that the service would be losing a number of high quality titles through the end of May and early June including Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.
To replace these games. Amazon Luna has announced just two game additions in June:
It would be hard to consider these two titles as near the equivalent of the games being lost. But, that is to be expected in any given month with a rotating game subscription like Luna+.
What may be more concerning is the continued long term trend here of losing more games than are being added, which began last Fall.
We should note that the Luna blog does start with the following sentence:
In May, we launched some new titles on Luna, including Tormented Souls, Retro Classix: Breakthru, Retro Classix: Express Raider, Retro Classix: Super Real Darwin, Retro Classix: Wizard Fire.
Those Retro Classix titles haven’t actually hit the service yet, but Trackmania did land on the Ubisoft+ channel and an unexpected game, Mail Mole, came to Luna+.
Update 3PM Pacific: The 4 Retro Classix Titles have now arrived:
- Retro Classix: Breakthru
- Retro Classix: Express Raider
- Retro Classix: Super Real Darwin
- Retro Classix: Wizard Fire
Perish
Perish is a first person shooter (FPS) that will be making a debut in the cloud with Amazon Luna. You and up to 3 co-op friends (we’re not sure if this feature will be supported in Luna) will take on enemies in Purgatory and make your way towards Elysium. The game has a 63 rating on Metacritic.
Haven
Haven is a title that is currently available to play in the cloud via GeForce NOW, PlayStation Plus Premium and Utomik and carries a 73 rating on Metacritic. It is an indie RPG that follows two lovers escaping to a lost planet together. The game has a unique artistic style that looks stunning.
June Prime Channel Games
Every month, the existing games on the Amazon Luna prime channel get removed and replaced with a new set of games. The games for June.
The top game here is Batman: Arkham Knight. If you are a Amazon Prime subscriber who hasn’t played it yet, June is a great chance! Other than these four titles, Prime members will still have access to Fortnite and Ubisoft Connect titles they own for free via Amazon Luna servers.
We also recommend you check out SteamWorld Heist. Which is a turn-based strategy titles set in the SteamWorld universe that we enjoyed back on Google Stadia.
We think that these free Prime member benefits are something that Amazon Luna will continue to emphasize going forward.
