Battlefield Studios Announces Battlefield Labs Community Testing Program

In a dimly lit room, the air hums with excitement as members of the Battlefield Labs community testing program delve into their virtual adventures. With headsets snug and large monitors casting an ethereal blue glow, these gamers are immersed in a world of endless possibilities.

Battlefield Studios, the team behind the Battlefield franchise, has just announced Battlefield Labs, a large-scale community testing program for the next Battlefield game. This follows earlier speculation about major playtests, reinforcing reports of expanded player involvement in development. With multiple studios working on the series’ future, this initiative marks a new approach to development, offering select players the ability to play early builds and provide direct feedback.

Battlefield Labs is set to launch soon, with its first phase opening to a limited group of players. Here’s what you need to know about the program.

What Is Battlefield Labs?

Battlefield Labs is the biggest community testing initiative in the series’ history. It provides early access to select gameplay experiences while allowing players to give direct feedback. The program focuses on testing mechanics, balancing gameplay, and gathering feedback to improve the next Battlefield game.

Phase 1 of Battlefield Labs will begin in the coming weeks, starting with a small invited group. Early tests will run on European and North American servers. More players and locations will be added later.

If you are interested in participating, you can sign up now at battlefield.com/labs. Battlefield Studios will post updates so even those not selected can follow the game’s progress.

The Role of Battlefield Studios

Battlefield Studios is a collaboration between four major development teams:

  • DICE – Creators of the Battlefield franchise.
  • Ripple Effect – Led by franchise veterans, working on a new Battlefield experience.
  • Motive – Developers of Star Wars Squadrons and Dead Space.
  • Criterion – Known for their racing expertise and contributions to Battlefield.

These studios are shaping the next Battlefield, with Battlefield Labs playing a key role. Vince Zampella, Respawn Head and EA Group GM, emphasized the importance of this initiative:

“I’ve been playing Battlefield long before I joined the team. This game has so much potential. Since we’re in pre-alpha, now is the time to test what our teams have built for the upcoming launch. Battlefield Labs empowers our teams to do that.”

In the announcement video below, studio leads from DICE, Ripple Effect, Motive, and Criterion discuss Battlefield Labs alongside Vince Zampella and Byron Beede. The video also includes work-in-progress footage, offering a glimpse at what’s next for the series.

Ongoing Battlefield Labs Testing and Community Updates

Battlefield Labs is just the beginning. As development moves forward, the program will expand, bringing in more players and new testing phases. If you’re interested in participating, sign-ups are open at battlefield.com/labs.
