Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 – Everything we know so far

Call of Duty Black Ops 6

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to launch on October 25, 2024 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. It will also be on Game Pass on day one. This latest installment takes you back to the early 1990s, a time of political upheaval and global tension. The game’s narrative is rooted in real historical events, focusing on a conspiracy that infiltrates the highest levels of the U.S. government.

The campaign promises a gripping story that blends familiar characters with new faces. Veteran Frank Woods returns, but his role has shifted due to past traumas. Black Ops 6 includes a variety of missions, each designed to offer unique gameplay styles and approaches. You can expect a mix of stealthy infiltration and intense combat scenarios, all set against a backdrop of historical authenticity.

Let’s take a quick look at everything we know so far about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 leading up to launch.

Choices matter

The Black Ops 6 campaign emphasizes player choice and mission variety. Each mission is designed to allow multiple approaches, whether through stealth or full-on assault. For instance, one mission involves infiltrating a sewer system beneath a casino, while another features a large-scale assault in the Iraqi desert.

You will also engage in conversations that can lead to different outcomes based on your choices. Adding depth to the story, making each playthrough feel unique. Environmental interactions will play a crucial role, with era-specific tools and puzzles enhancing the gameplay experience.

All-new multiplayer maps ready for launch

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will feature a lineup of new maps designed for various gameplay styles. At launch, there will be 16 all-new multiplayer maps. This includes 12 Core 6v6 maps and four compact Strike Maps. The Core maps are designed for traditional team-based gameplay, while the Strike Maps are perfect for fast-paced action.

The Strike Maps are smaller and offer constant chaos, making them ideal for quick engagements. Each map has its own unique story and setting, allowing you to explore different environments. The maps are designed to support various playstyles, whether you prefer aggressive tactics or strategic gameplay.

One standout feature of these new maps is the innovative three-lane design, which enhances the flow of combat. This design ensures that you can engage enemies quickly while also giving you options for flanking and strategic positioning. The maps are designed to encourage meaningful choices, whether you are playing casually or in Ranked modes.

Multiplayer mayhem where classic meets innovation

Multiplayer is a key part of the Black Ops franchise, and Black Ops 6 is set to take it to the next level. The game features a brand-new Omni movement system. This system lets you move around maps quickly and easily. You can sprint, slide, and dive in any direction, making you feel almost super hero-like.

With Omni movement, you can chain together different moves seamlessly. This means you can dodge attacks and reposition yourself quickly during battles. The goal is to make movement feel natural and exciting, allowing you to push your limits in gameplay.

In multiplayer, you can choose from three main play styles: Enforcers, Recon, and Strategists. Each style comes with unique weapons, gear, and gadgets tailored to enhance your experience. Enforcers focus on aggressive play, while Recon players gather intel. Strategists support the team by completing objectives and taking out enemy score streaks.

From everything that we have seen and heard so far, Black Ops 6 promises a more engaging and user-friendly multiplayer experience. It keeps the classic Black Ops feel while introducing innovative features.

Zombies are back

The fan favourite Zombies mode makes its return in Black Ops 6. We got our first look at Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies gameplay earlier in August. This time, Zombies features a round-based gameplay format that myself and many other fans have been eagerly waiting for. You will face off against hordes of undead while exploring new maps and uncovering hidden secrets.

The Zombies experience will include a new team called the Terminus Team, who will guide you through the challenges. Expect extensive gameplay mechanics, including currency systems and main quests. From what I can see, this return of round-based gameplay will provide exciting, cooperative action that Call of Duty fans will love.
