CES 2026: LG Introduces “Designed for LG Gaming Portal” Controller Certification

At CES 2026, LG Electronics announced a new certification program called Designed for LG Gaming Portal, aimed at improving controller performance and compatibility for cloud gaming on LG smart TVs.

The program debuts alongside the Razer Wolverine V3 Bluetooth for LG Smart TVs, which LG and Razer are positioning as the first controller certified under the new standard. According to LG, the initiative focuses on reducing latency, improving wireless connectivity, and ensuring tighter integration between supported controllers and the LG Gaming Portal experience on webOS-powered TVs.

A Controller Program Built Around Cloud Gaming

LG says the Designed for LG Gaming Portal certification is intended to create a more consistent experience for players. Rather than treating controllers as generic Bluetooth accessories, the program is designed to validate performance factors. Things like input latency, responsiveness, and interoperability are looked at with LG’s gaming interface.

The Razer Wolverine V3 Bluetooth is the first product to receive this certification. And is being highlighted as an example of what LG expects from future certified controllers.

Razer Wolverine V3 Bluetooth Leads the Launch

The Wolverine V3 Bluetooth is being introduced at CES 2026 as a controller built specifically for use with LG smart TVs. LG and Razer say it supports ultra-low latency Bluetooth with a reported response time under 3ms, along with integrated TV controls and features aimed at cloud gaming scenarios.

While LG refers to the controller as the fastest gaming controller, the more relevant detail for cloud gaming users is its focus on minimizing wireless input delay when paired directly with a TV rather than a console or PC.

LG’s Growing TV-First Cloud Gaming Platform

The new certification program fits into LG’s broader push to treat the TV itself as a cloud gaming platform. LG has already positioned select OLED models as cloud-capable displays, including support for 4K 120Hz HDR cloud gaming through GeForce NOW. The goal is to make the TV a primary endpoint for cloud play rather than just a screen connected to other hardware.

By adding a controller certification layer, LG is extending that approach beyond displays and software. Controllers, wireless performance, and system integration are being folded into a single ecosystem. All designed around TV-based cloud gaming.

LG has not yet said how many additional controllers will be certified under the Designed for LG Gaming Portal program. Or, whether certification will be required for full feature support going forward. More details are expected this year. As LG expands its Gaming Portal lineup and works with additional partners beyond CES 2026.
