Welcome back to the Canadian edition of Charting in the Clouds, our monthly look at Canada’s top-selling video games. With fresh data from the Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESA) and Circana, we’ve got a clear snapshot of what Canadians picked up in July.
This month’s chart was led by Donkey Kong Bananza, which debuted at number one as the first major Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive to hit stores after the console’s launch in June. EA Sports College Football 26 also scored big in its release month, while Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 and Grounded 2 gave Microsoft a strong showing across multiple spots. Longtime hits like Minecraft, Red Dead Redemption II, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 continued to prove their staying power.
As with previous months, it’s worth noting that Donkey Kong Bananza’s and Minecraft’s digital sales on Nintendo platforms were not included in the data, meaning their actual totals could be higher than reported.
We’ve also included cloud gaming availability again this month. Many of July’s top titles can be played in the cloud on platforms like GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Amazon Luna, and Boosteroid. If you missed it, check out Canada’s Top-Selling Games of June 2025 to see what changed.
Let’s take a closer look at Canada’s top-selling games for July 2025.

July’s chart was led by the arrival of Donkey Kong Bananza, which jumped straight to number one as the first big Nintendo Switch 2-exclusive release. EA Sports College Football 26 had an impressive debut at number two, showing strong demand for the franchise’s long-awaited return. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 also made waves, while the EA Sports MVP Bundle landed in fourth, giving Electronic Arts three spots in the top four.
Microsoft maintained a strong presence with Forza Horizon 5 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, while Grounded 2 debuted at number six despite launching late in the month on July 29. Red Dead Redemption II reappeared in the rankings, reminding us of its enduring popularity years after release. Minecraft once again made the list despite incomplete digital sales data, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach rounded out the top ten for a second straight month.
With blockbuster exclusives, late-month launches, and long-running series all performing well, July highlighted the balance between new hardware momentum and consistent favourites.
July 2025 Wrap-Up and a Look Ahead
July marked another turning point for Canada’s gaming market. Donkey Kong Bananza not only secured the top spot but also cemented the Nintendo Switch 2 as a major driver of new releases. At the same time, long-awaited sports titles like EA Sports College Football 26 and the MVP Bundle gave EA one of its strongest months yet.
Microsoft continued to hold a strong position with multiple charting games, and the late-July launch of Grounded 2 proved there’s demand for its survival-focused sequel even with only a few days of sales counted. The steady presence of franchises like Minecraft, Call of Duty, and Red Dead Redemption II showed how established hits remain central to Canadian gaming habits.
We’ll be back next month to break down Canada’s top-selling games for August 2025. With more Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives arriving and late-summer releases on the horizon, the next chart could see even more surprises and shifts.
