Welcome back to the Canadian edition of Charting in the Clouds, our monthly look at Canada’s top-selling video games. With fresh data from the Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESA) and Circana, we’ve got a clear snapshot of what Canadians picked up in May.
May’s chart saw a strong debut for Elden Ring: Nightreign, which claimed the top spot following its global release. Microsoft once again dominated the rankings, with DOOM: The Dark Ages, Forza Horizon 5, Oblivion Remastered, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 all landing in the top five. EA also had a solid showing, with F1 25, Split Fiction, and FC 25 rounding out the top ten.
As with previous months, it’s worth noting that Minecraft’s digital sales on Nintendo platforms were not included. That means its actual position could be higher than reported.
We’ve also included cloud gaming availability again this month. Many of May’s top titles can be streamed in the cloud through platforms like GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Amazon Luna, and Boosteroid. If you missed it, catch up on Canada’s Top-Selling Games of April 2025 here.

May’s chart reflected a strong launch for Elden Ring: Nightreign, which shot straight to number one. Microsoft maintained a commanding presence, with DOOM: The Dark Ages making a solid debut and both Forza Horizon 5 and Oblivion Remastered holding strong in the top five. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 continued its consistent run, showing no signs of slowing down.
Split Fiction and Minecraft both kept their momentum going, each making another top-ten appearance. EA’s annual F1 25 launch placed well in its debut month, while EA Sports FC 25 returned to the list after falling out in April. Longtime chart veteran Grand Theft Auto V also reappeared, proving its staying power yet again.
With blockbuster debuts, returning favourites, and multiplatform support continuing to drive performance, May delivered another balanced mix of the new and familiar.
May 2025 Wrap-Up and a Look Ahead
May continued to highlight how new releases and long-running favourites can comfortably share the spotlight in Canada’s gaming market. Microsoft’s lineup remained dominant, while titles from EA, Bandai Namco, and Take-Two proved that variety is still a major driver of success.
We’ll be back next month to break down Canada’s top-selling games for June 2025. With summer releases heating up and the Nintendo Switch 2 now in the mix, we’re curious to see which games climb, which fall, and what surprises sneak onto the chart.
