The Helldivers 2 universe is facing one of its most critical turning points today. Arrowhead Game Studios has officially released the “Machinery of Oppression” update, marking the return of the Cyborgs. A classic faction from the first installment that has now joined forces with the Automaton legions to threaten Super Earth. This new phase of the Galactic War moves the front lines to Cyberstan, the home world of these machines, where players must infiltrate dangerous factory cities.
Urban Warfare and New Threats
The invasion of Cyberstan will be far from a routine mission. For the first time, Helldivers must engage in combat within industrial urban environments, breaching fortress walls and dismantling production lines. The update introduces three new unit types belonging to the Cyborg subfaction:
- Agitators: Heavily armored field commanders capable of taking tactical control of enemy squads and making strategic decisions on the battlefield.
- Radicals: Elite units featuring extreme cybernetic and bio-enhancements, specialized in high-intensity close-quarters combat.
- Vox Engine: A massive mobile war machine piloted by high-ranking officers. It is equipped with dual laser cannons and rocket launchers, while at the same time broadcasting propaganda to demoralize Super Earth’s forces.
The Galactic Reinforcement Counter
One of the most innovative mechanics in this update is the tangible risk of total failure. Arrowhead has implemented a “Galactic Reinforcement Counter” for the Battle of Cyberstan. Every player death across the globe subtracts from this number. If the counter reaches zero, the community officially loses the battle, potentially leading to permanent shifts in the game’s narrative.
To combat this threat, the “Siege Breakers” Warbond has been deployed, featuring new defensive tools such as the G/SH-39 Shield, alongside new armor sets.
