Everything Revealed About Rainbow Six Siege X in the Year 10 Roadmap Livestream

Heavily armed soldiers clash outside an industrial building in this intense Rainbow Six Siege X scene, with smoke billowing and a helicopter hovering overhead.

Ubisoft is launching a major evolution of Rainbow Six Siege on June 10 with the arrival of Rainbow Six Siege X. First announced during the Siege X Showcase in March, the update introduces new features, gameplay improvements, and a free-to-play model. The recent Year 10 Roadmap livestream offered a closer look at what’s coming, just weeks ahead of launch.

Originally previewed in a closed beta from March 13 to 19, Siege X includes the new 6v6 Dual Front mode, updated maps, destructible elements, and enhanced movement. One of the most significant additions is Free Access. This allows new users to play Quick Match, Unranked, and Dual Front without owning the base game.

Here’s a closer look at what we learned at the Year 10 Roadmap livestream.

Siege X Launch Details and Free Access Explained

Siege X isn’t just opening the door to new users. It’s rolling out a wide set of changes across the game. Free Access lets anyone try Quick Match, Unranked, and Dual Front without buying the full version, but returning players will see plenty of updates too.

Five maps are being modernized at launch. They’ll feature updated lighting, improved shadows, and sharper resolution. Maps will also include new destructible objects like gas pipes, metal detectors, and smoke detectors that can change how you approach a match.

Movement feels different as well. You’ll be able to sprint while rappelling and take corners more smoothly. The momentum system has been adjusted to make everything flow better.

Other additions include a communication wheel for quick callouts, a weapon inspect feature, and a new pick and ban system in Ranked. Onboarding has been improved as well, aiming to make the basics easier to learn.

Dual Front Changes Up the Formula

Dual Front is a new 6v6 mode arriving with Siege X, and it makes some big changes to the usual format. Instead of separating attackers and defenders, both sides now work together. Each team has a mix of Operators from both roles, creating new ways to combine gadgets and strategies.

The objective is to secure the enemy’s zone while defending your own. Unlike other core modes, Dual Front also includes respawns, letting you rejoin the action without waiting for the round to end. This shifts the pace of matches, making them more active while still keeping a focus on tactical decision-making.

Dual Front was available in the March closed beta and will be part of the Free Access offering when Siege X launches. It’s designed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and introduces a different rhythm from the usual Siege experience.

Three armored soldiers engage in a gunfight inside a damaged, debris-filled room with high-tech equipment, reminiscent of intense Rainbow Six Siege X tactical battles.

New Tools, Stats, and Training Features

Beyond the core updates and new mode, Siege X also introduces several new features aimed at improving how you play and track progress. A new in-game esports tab will make it easier to follow competitive events directly from the main menu.

A career stats tracker is also being added. This includes familiar metrics like K.O.S.T., commonly used in pro play, and lets you review your performance across different playlists. Experienced users will also level up faster thanks to a reworked XP curve.

For new users, Siege X adds beginner challenges and onboarding tasks that offer in-game rewards. Two new playlists, Enlisted and Field Training, will provide dedicated practice spaces on full maps. Both feature AI bots trained on real player behaviour. These are designed to help both new and returning users get comfortable before jumping into standard matches.

Finally, a new Operator banter feature will introduce more voice lines during gameplay, highlighting character personalities and relationships throughout a match.

Additional Changes and Quality-of-Life Updates

Several quality-of-life updates are also launching with Siege X. The game’s UI has been completely redesigned with a new modular hub. It’s now easier to access game modes, events, and stats. This updated look carries over to the battle pass, which now uses a zoomable map-style layout to browse and unlock rewards. Seasonal challenges and new animated cosmetics will also be part of each pass.

Longtime players will also receive recognition through new in-game rewards, though full details haven’t been shared yet. Ranked now includes skill decay for returning users, easing them back in after 90 days of inactivity.

Competitive updates include the return of Siege Cup, now running every weekend with exclusive badges for high performers. A new “Inspect Squad Stats” feature lets you preview opponent teams before each match.

Seasonal events are also expanding. Each season will now include two limited-time events, starting with the return of Showdown in Season 2.

How to Play Siege X and What to Expect at Launch

Siege X launches June 10 as a free upgrade for anyone who already owns Rainbow Six Siege. It will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Amazon Luna, and PC via Ubisoft Connect and Steam.

Free Access will also go live the same day, letting new users try Quick Match, Unranked, and the Dual Front mode without buying the game. PC gamers can try Siege X early through a test server session running from May 20 to June 9. Anyone who owns the game on PC should see the test server appear in their Ubisoft Connect library.

Whether you’re jumping back in or trying Siege X for the first time, there’s plenty to test out. Will you be giving it a shot on June 10?
