Running through the end of Chapter 5 Season 4, this seasonal event, built around terrifying new mechanics and plenty of quest rewards, is one you won’t want to miss. From explosive traps like Boom Billy to the return of Horde Rush, there’s no shortage of ways to get into the Halloween spirit this year.
Boom Billy’s Terrifying Return
Fortnitemares 2024 introduces the explosive Boom Billy, a creepy new addition to the island’s arsenal. You can throw this mini-version of Billy the Puppet, which will ride toward the nearest enemy on a tricycle before exploding on impact. Want to unleash this deadly toy on opponents? Boom Billys can be found in chests, scattered around the island, or by defeating the real Billy the Puppet at Freaky Fields. But beware: if you see one headed your way, you better start running. If you can outrun it, you’ll avoid a gruesome fate.
Jigsaw’s Challenge: A Game of High Stakes
If you love a deadly duel, Jigsaw’s Challenge adds another layer of terror. Hidden around the map are TV monitors featuring Billy the Puppet, ready to challenge players to a head-to-head showdown. If you accept, you’ll be matched with another player accepting the challenge from a different monitor. Both players will wear explosive bear masks in a fight to the death. Fail to eliminate your target in time, and the mask detonates, ending your run. Survive, and you’ll be handsomely rewarded with a Boom Billy, the unvaulted Witch Broom, and other in-game loot.
Rideable Chainsaw: Hack and Slash Your Way Across the Island
If you’re tired of playing games, grab the new rideable Chainsaw and cut your way through opponents. This unique weapon can slice through enemies or, if you need to make a quick escape, be used to propel yourself forward at terrifying speeds. You can find this deadly tool around the map, in chests, or on the ground. Whether you’re using it to fight or flee, the Chainsaw promises plenty of horror-fueled fun.
Unvaulted Items From the Underworld
Fortnitemares wouldn’t be complete without the return of some undead weapons and items. The Wood Stake Shotgun, Pumpkin Launcher, and Witch Broom have all been unvaulted for this event, adding an extra dose of Halloween mayhem. The Wood Stake Shotgun allows you to shoot stakes at enemies, while the Pumpkin Launcher offers explosive jack-o’-lantern projectiles. The Witch Broom lets you glide through the air and strike from above. If you want to unlock these spooky tools, you’ll need to defeat Ultima Carver at Brawler’s Patch (formerly Brawler’s Battleground) to get the Wood Stake Shotgun and Pumpkin Launcher. The Witch Broom can be found in loot drops, chests, and on Loot Island.
Fortnitemares XP Quests: Sink Your Teeth Into Rewards
Earning exclusive rewards is easy this year with Fortnitemares XP Quests, which unlock progressively throughout the event. Completing these quests will allow you to unlock terrifying items, including:
- Complete 1 Quest: The Fangler Bass
- Complete 2 Quests: Carver’s Helm Emoticon
- Complete 3 Quests: Horde’s War Wheel Back Bling
- Complete 4 Quests: Thrills & Chills Loading Screen
- Complete 5 Quests: Nightmare’s Choice Jam Track
- Complete 6 Quests: Knight of the Patch Banner Icon
- Complete 7 Quests: Jack-o’-Drifter Contrail
- Complete 8 Quests: Fiendish Wand Pickaxe

Horde Rush Returns
Horde Rush returns and brings Cube Monsters to the forefront once again. In this returning limited-time mode (LTM), your team must survive waves of Cube Monsters while traveling across the map. This year’s edition comes with Mod Benches, allowing for some much-needed upgrades along the way. After battling through the hordes, you’ll face a Final Boss. Horde Rush Quests will also be available, offering extra XP and helping you complete Fortnitemares XP Quests faster.
Symbiote Cup: Prove Your Worth
For competitive players, the Symbiote Cup provides the chance to prove your skill in a Battle Royale Duos tournament. Taking place on October 22, 2024 the top teams in each region will unlock the She-Venom and Agony outfits before they hit the shop on October 24, 2024. You can compete in up to 10 matches within their region’s three-hour window. To participate, you need to be at Account Level 50 or above and have Two-Factor Authentication enabled on your Epic account.
Here’s the breakdown of points for placement:
- Victory Royale: 65 points
- 2nd: 56 points
- 3rd: 52 points
- 4th: 48 points
- 5th: 44 points
- … (Points continue to diminish until 25th place)
Eliminations are also worth 1 point each. Be sure to check the Compete tab in-game for specific event timing in your region.
Eerie Outfits of Fortnitemares 2024
Fortnitemares 2024 brings more than just scares—it has a range of new outfits to match the spooky vibe. The item shop is filled with ominous characters ready to haunt the island. One of the first to debut was the Billy Outfit, but here’s a look at some of the other horrifying costumes you can snag during this event.
- Sally and Pumpkin King: The Pumpkin King and his seamstress, Sally, make a creepy entrance. Expect stitches, pumpkins, and eerie charm.
- Mephisto: Straight from the fiery depths, Mephisto is an extra-dimensional demon with an intimidating presence.
- Edward Scissorhands: The gentle yet terrifying Edward Scissorhands slices his way into the game. His eerie, tragic persona is sure to leave a lasting impression.
- Disney Villains: Fortnitemares wouldn’t be complete without the iconic Disney villains. You can dress as the mistress of evil Maleficent, the pirate Captain Hook, or the fur-loving Cruella de Vil.
- She-Venom and Agony: These symbiotes are here to give your squad a scare. Their menacing forms make for a perfect addition to the Fortnitemares lineup.
- Leatherface: The terrifying Leatherface arrives, bringing a sense of dread with his chainsaw-wielding antics.
As Fortnitemares 2024 nears its end, Ravemello, a monstrous mashup of Marshmello and Raven, will hit the shop. This mashup hints that Fortnitemares is just the beginning of Fortnite’s holiday festivities.
