A significant overhaul for Xbox Cloud Gaming may be on the horizon. This follows a discovery by the creator of the popular third-party enhancement tool, Better xCloud.
Redphx, the developer behind the well-regarded user-script, took to Twitter to share what appears to be an official promotional video. The video briefly showcases a redesigned xCloud interface. It features a layout that bears a striking resemblance to the dedicated Xbox App for PC.

Taking a closer look at the new Xbox Cloud Gaming
The most prominent change glimpsed in the video is the addition of a lateral menu on the left side of the screen. This design choice would align the Xbox Cloud experience more closely with the navigation found on the Xbox app for Windows. This suggests a broader effort by Microsoft to unify its gaming platforms’ look and feel.

Why it matters
This potential redesign addresses several long-standing requests from the community, especially those seeking better organization and usability:
- Improved Filtering: A more robust navigation system could finally make it easier for players to quickly and accurately filter games. These games are included with Game Pass versus those that are part of the “Stream Your Own” library. Currently, distinguishing between these two categories can be cumbersome, specially in the “All games” section.
- Enhanced Social Features: The lateral menu hints at dedicated panels for seeing online friends and managing chat. This integrates the social experience more directly into the cloud gaming interface.
- Customization: Moving beyond the simple, horizontal scrolling menu of the current web-based interface, the new layout is expected to provide a more customizable and feature-rich experience for users.
While the new interface has only been seen in a promotional clip and is not yet confirmed by Microsoft for an official rollout, sources suggest this design is indeed part of an effort to converge the interfaces of Xbox Cloud Gaming and the Xbox PC App. If implemented, this redesign would be a major quality-of-life improvement.
