Ghost of Yōtei is getting a lot more to do this fall. Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition arrives October 1 with the new Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion. It also includes Most Wanted, a single-player combat survival mode with roguelike elements.
Existing owners won’t need to buy the Complete Edition again. A $14.99 USD Complete Edition Upgrade includes Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted. A free patch also arrives for everyone who already owns the game.
Echoes Of Sekigahara Revisits Atsu’s Past
Echoes of Sekigahara splits its story between the present and flashbacks to Atsu’s time on the Japanese mainland. In the present, Nagato, a figure from Atsu’s past, arrives in Ezo.
Atsu will also explore a previously unseen valley once inhabited by The Snake and his followers, the Vipers. The flashbacks cover Atsu’s time in the Battle of Sekigahara and a key moment before she returned home for vengeance.
The expansion adds new enemies along with heavy weapons, armour sets and dyes.
Most Wanted Turns Ghost Of Yōtei Combat Into Survival Runs
Most Wanted takes a different approach. The new single-player mode focuses on combat runs rather than continuing Atsu’s main story.
Each run begins with a bounty. Taking down enemies earns perks and unlocks additional characters to play as.
Those characters also have their own combat specialties. Atsu uses dual katana, Oyuki fights with the kusarigama and Nagato uses a yari.
Most Wanted sits apart from the new story expansion by focusing on repeated combat runs.
Existing Owners Can Upgrade For $14.99 USD
Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition is priced at $69.99 USD. It includes the base game, Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted and Ghost of Yōtei Legends. The package also includes the in-game content from the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Charm of Hokkyokusei.
Existing owners can instead buy the $14.99 USD Complete Edition Upgrade. That upgrade includes Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted, so there is no need to purchase the full package again.
Patch 2.0 also arrives October 1 for everyone who owns Ghost of Yōtei. It adds Beauty of Yōtei mode, new quality-of-life features and a high contrast accessibility option.
The patch arrives October 2 in some territories, including Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Internet access and a PlayStation account are required to download it.
Ghost of Yōtei is already available through PlayStation Cloud Gaming for purchased-game streaming on PS5 and PlayStation Portal. PlayStation hasn’t said whether the October additions change that cloud availability, so that remains an open question for launch.
