Here at Cloud Dosage, we’re still saddened by the imminent closure of Google Stadia. Over the last couple of months, since the original announcement, we’ve striven to search and share the best alternatives to Stadia. Community members have also provided their own research in order to help others. It’s a shame that we have to say goodbye to such an incredible service, and specially, its community. At least, Google stated that Stadia users would get their money back via refunds. For hardware and software purchases, anyway. This excludes Stadia Pro, but it is definitely something.
As of today, Google has started sending out automated refunds for previous Stadia users. Even though the automated process has started, there’s still room for refunds to be made until January 18th 2023, as previously stated.
Here’s the statement that Google released on November 9th 2022:
Starting November 9, 2022, Stadia will attempt to automatically process refunds for all purchases of games, add-on content and subscriptions fees other than Stadia Pro made through the Stadia Store. We ask for your patience as we work through each transaction and ask that you refrain from contacting Customer Support as they will not be able to expedite your refund during this time. We still expect the majority of refunds to be processed by January 18th, 2023.
The Stadia FAQ page has also been updated with new information and answers regarding the process. Those that used a form of payment that’s no longer available, are instructed to contact their banking institution. It’s also worth a mention that Google has partnered with Payoneer in order to handle special cases.
If you have any questions regarding the process, we recommend you take a look at the official FAQ page.
