KONAMI kicked off its debut PRESS START showcase with one of its biggest titles front and centre. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater returned with new gameplay footage, surprise additions, and the first details on a brand-new online multiplayer mode. If you’ve been waiting for something more than just a visual remake, this looks like it will deliver.
Remake Brings New Life to Classic Gameplay
The PRESS START showcase confirmed several updates to boss battles and combat systems in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Enemy AI has been reworked, animation systems improved, and combat balance adjusted to better suit modern controls.
There’s also a new collectible element tied to Secret Theater. These in-game clips can be found as hidden items, with original and new “Delta” versions included. One of the updated clips is even carried by an enemy, giving you a reason to explore carefully.
Costumes shown in the Sneaking DLC Pack aren’t just cosmetic. Some come with gameplay effects, encouraging different approaches to infiltration. New weapons and items were also teased.
As someone who’s replayed the original Snake Eater multiple times, I liked how these upgrades felt familiar but more refined. It looks like KONAMI is doing more than just updating the visuals. They’re taking time to improve how it plays too.

Snake vs Monkey and Snake vs Bomberman Return in New Ways
KONAMI brought back one of the more unexpected extras from the original game. Snake vs Monkey returns for the PlayStation 5 and Steam versions of Snake Eater, giving you another shot at catching those out-of-place apes in the jungle.

Xbox Series X|S is getting a different twist. The Snake vs Bomberman mode replaces the monkeys with explosive chaos. You’ll track down Bomberman characters trying to escape through dense terrain, mixing stealth with quick reflexes.
I didn’t expect to see Bomberman show up in a Metal Gear showcase, but the crossover made me smile. These bonus modes might not be huge, but they’re fun throwbacks that keep things playful.

FOX HUNT Is a New Take on Stealth Multiplayer
One of the biggest reveals was FOX HUNT, a completely new online mode for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Built around stealth and camouflage, It’s not just about racking up kills. It’s about staying hidden and getting the upper hand.
According to director Yu Sahara, the team wanted something different from past Metal Gear Online experiences. FOX HUNT is designed to reflect the game’s survival and stealth themes, with more focus on discovery and deception than firefights. Details are still limited, but the teaser included early gameplay footage and character renders. It looks like you’ll need to blend into your surroundings and stay alert if you want to survive.
I’ve always preferred stealth over direct combat in the series, so this direction makes sense. If done right, FOX HUNT could offer something memorable and weird in the best way.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater‘s Release Date and Sale Details
Between gameplay upgrades, bonus missions, and FOX HUNT’s reveal, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater looks like a careful update with more going on than expected. It’s not just a touch-up. It’s a remix of the original with new ideas layered in.
The game launches August 28, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. KONAMI is also offering Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 at 50% off on Steam as part of its PRESS START sale.
