MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ Revealed with Intel Arc G3 Extreme and Massive 80Whr Battery

MSI Claw 8 EX AI+

MSI has officially revealed its next-generation gaming handheld at COMPUTEX 2026: the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+. This new Windows 11 device, powered by Intel’s first processors designed specifically for handheld systems, promises to get its predecessor back on the right track. With top-notch silicon, much-improved ergonomics and a massive battery capacity, it’s shaping up to be a serious contender for both demanding native AAA titles and high-performance cloud gaming on the go.

Next-Gen Arc Graphics & Intel Core Power

Central to the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ (model CG3EM) is the brand-new Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor and Intel Arc B390 graphics integrated into the motherboard. This is the first product in Intel’s next generation mobile architecture based on Battlemage, designed to optimize efficiency and performance in portable form factors.

The handheld supports XeSS 3 and AI-powered Multi-Frame Generation (MFG) to improve performance. These AI upscaling capabilities, together with an ultra-stable Intel Wi-Fi 7 wireless card, give cloud gamers smoother and more responsive local interface rendering and high-bitrate streaming than ever before.

A Stunning 8-Inch Variable Refresh Rate Display

MSI responded to feedback from the community by upgrading the original Claw’s 7-inch display to a larger, more immersive 8-inch FHD+ (1920 x 1200) IPS touchscreen.

The display also supports VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) from 48Hz to 120Hz and is capable of a peak brightness of 500 nits. VRR is also a huge win for handheld gamers. It eliminates screen tearing and reduces stutter, which is a great thing when you’re dealing with the minor frame pacing changes that are typical in cloud streaming, or heavy local rendering.

The Upgrades Gamers Wanted: 80Whr Battery, Standard SSDs

Perhaps the most significant upgrades are to the handheld’s physical design and battery life:

  • Massive 80Whr Battery: MSI has stuffed a 4-cell 80Whr battery inside the chassis. On par with the industry-leading capacity of devices such as the ASUS ROG Ally X. Expect a significant upgrade in playtime over the original model’s 53Whr battery.
  • M.2 2280 Storage Support: The new Claw supports standard M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs (PCIe Gen 4 x4) instead of the more elusive M.2 2230 drives. Thus making storage upgrades much cheaper and more accessible.
  • Controls have been refined with ergonomic grips and precision Hall-effect triggers and joysticks (no stick drift here). Alongside a more tactile D-pad and a high-end linear motor for nuanced haptic feedback.
  • Dual Thunderbolt 4 Ports: Docking your handheld is now easier with two full-featured Thunderbolt 4 ports that allow you to connect to an external display and charger simultaneously.

Aesthetic & Software Adjustments

Running Windows 11 Home, the Claw 8 EX AI+ sports a striking new Void Purple colorway. MSI has added a new design of Quick Settings overlay that allows adjusting frame control and frame generation on the fly. It also includes an easy to use “Xbox Mode” that allows players to jump right back into their games with seamless resume capabilities.
