New Astro Bot Speedrun Level Revealed at PlayStation Tournaments XP

Astro Bot fans were treated to a surprise reveal during the recent PlayStation Tournaments XP event. A new speedrunning level for the game was showcased. This has sparked speculation about its potential addition to Astro Bot’s free DLC lineup.

The level appeared during the tournament finals. It features the Time Stopper ability to freeze enemies and a flower power-up for elevation. While it hasn’t been confirmed if this level will be officially added to the game, its inclusion in such a high-profile event has fans, like myself, hopeful for a future update.

What Could This Mean for Astro Bot?

Astro Bot has seen steady post-launch support, including five free speedrun stages released weekly last fall and a festive-themed level in December. Many assumed Team Asobi had wrapped up their planned updates, but this new level hints that more surprises could still be on the horizon.

Astro Bot’s cameo bots have been a popular addition in past updates, featuring references to iconic gaming characters. Characters like Tekken’s Heihachi and Twisted Metal’s Sweet Tooth have appeared in concept art but haven’t yet joined the game. Could this new level signal another round of crossovers? Fans have noted unused space in the game’s level-select menu, parking theories about potential future additions.

Astro Bot’s Ongoing Appeal

Astro Bot remains one of PlayStation’s most endearing mascots, with its creative gameplay and nods to gaming history. Whether or not this speedrun level makes its way into the game, it shows Team Asobi’s knack for keeping the Astro Bot experience fresh and exciting.
