Bandai Namco has released a brand-new overview trailer for Elden Ring: Nightreign, offering the clearest look yet at how the game plays. From shifting environments to class-based co-op combat, the trailer walks through what you can expect when Nightreign launches on May 30, 2025.

If you missed it, I shared my hands-on impressions during the closed network test earlier this year — including how the roguelike structure and co-op mechanics feel in action. You can read the full preview here.

Set in the decaying world of Limveld, Nightreign introduces a three-day survival loop where you’ll explore, scavenge, and fight through unpredictable threats before facing off against the Nightlords. With random world events, eight unique classes, and escalating boss battles, this new trailer breaks down everything you’ll need to know before launch day.

Threats of the Night: Survive the Cycle

The new overview trailer explains Nightreign’s three-day structure, where each session ends in a showdown with a Nightlord. Surviving until then won’t be easy. You’ll need to explore Limveld quickly, find gear, level up, and prepare for harder fights as night falls.

As darkness spreads, the map shrinks and more powerful enemies appear. You’re pushed toward an inevitable confrontation, and that pacing forces you to stay alert. Dynamic events can interrupt progress—meteor strikes, enemy ambushes, and corrupted biomes change the field mid-run. Once night fully falls, the pressure ramps up fast.

Allies who fall in battle can still be revived, either directly by attacking them or with ranged tools like bows or magic. Revival gets slower each time, so working together and staying mobile is key.

Nightfarers: Eight Classes, Countless Strategies

The overview trailer highlights the eight playable Nightfarers, each with distinct weapons, passive abilities, skills, and ultimate arts. You’ll choose one at the start of each run, and your decision shapes how you fight, support, and survive.

Some classes do better than others in direct combat, like Wylder, who uses grappling hooks and explosive spikes, or Raider, who charges through enemies without flinching. Others lean into defense or support, like Guardian, who lifts enemies and protects allies with magic shields, or Duchess, who uses stealth and illusions to set ambushes.

You’ll also find ranged options like Ironeye, an archer who weakens enemies with precision shots, and magical specialists like Recluse, who channels elemental attacks and can brand enemies to restore ally health. Each class adds a new layer to team dynamics, encouraging coordination in every fight.

Roundtable Hold: Customize, Upgrade, and Prepare

Between expeditions, you’ll return to the Roundtable Hold — your central hub for upgrades and customization. Here, you can equip relics, spend earned currency (Murk), and prepare for your next drop into Limveld.

Relics offer long-term benefits that carry between runs. Some increase your stats, while others modify how your skills behave. Mixing and matching relics can shift how a class performs, encouraging experimentation across sessions. Murk can also be used to unlock gestures, relic stands, and cosmetic outfits — including some inspired by past FromSoftware games.

The Roundtable Hold is also where you’ll unlock memory fragments. These reveal pieces of each Nightfarer’s past through conversations and new objectives, slowly answering why they’ve come together to fight. It’s a quiet contrast to the chaos of the field — and a key part of the game’s long-term progression.

Nightlords: The Final Test

The Nightlords are the ultimate threat in Elden Ring: Nightreign. These powerful bosses appear on the third and final day of each run. Facing one marks the end of your expedition—and the peak of everything you’ve prepared for.

These fights are designed to push your team to the limit. Nightlords have overwhelming attack power, massive health pools, and mechanics that demand coordination. Beating them requires smart planning, gear that matches their weaknesses, and a full understanding of your class.

The trailer shows brief glimpses of these confrontations, hinting at the scale and intensity of the challenge. With randomized gear and event-driven builds, no two boss fights will play out the same way. Victory may be tough, but the path there promises constant variety.

Get Ready! Elden Ring Nightreign launches May 30, 2025

The new Elden Ring: Nightreign overview trailer gives the clearest look yet at how this spin-off reimagines FromSoftware’s formula. With randomized maps, class-based co-op, and escalating boss encounters, Nightreign is shaping up to be a fast-paced and unpredictable experience.

With just a few weeks to go before its May 30 release, this trailer sets the stage for what to expect — and why teamwork, planning, and adaptability will be key.
