New Google Made Google TV Streamer Appears to be Coming Soon

Upcoming Google TV Streamer

9to5Google has received what looks to be a credible photo of an upcoming Google TV streaming device – the successor to the Chromecast with Google TV. This is of particular interest to us here at Cloud Dosage as Google TV devices remain some of the most devices for cloud gaming. These include the Chromecast series of devices, NVIDIA’s Shield TV and Walmart’s Onn devices.

On Google TV devices, there are official apps for many cloud gaming services – GeForce NOW, Boosteroid, Blacknut. There aren’t yet official apps for Xbox Cloud Gaming or Amazon Luna. But, we’ve got instructions on how to sideload and play Xbox on Google TV as well as Luna on Google TV.

We don’t have a lot of information about what specs this new device will be packing, but given the fact that it is quite a bit bulkier than the Chromecast dongles of the past, we should see something with a bit higher performance. We’d like to see a decent amount of storage (32GB or higher) and a chipset that supports AV1 hardware decoding – which GeForce NOW has begun using in its highest quality streams.

Google is having its annual hardware event early this year in August – August 13. So, we shouldn’t have to wait long to find out.
