PHYND has added three new games to its free cloud gaming catalogue, with Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All!, Recompile, and The Smurfs – Mission Vileaf now available on the service.
If you’re looking to play something on PHYND, these three games go in very different directions. You can fight through Romans with Asterix and Obelix, explore Recompile’s digital mainframe, or help the Smurfs save their forest.

Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! Brings Hand-Drawn Brawling
Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! is a hand-drawn 2D beat ’em up that sends the famous Gauls around the world to fight Roman soldiers and anyone else standing in their way. The stages and character animations stay close to the look of the original comics.
Slap Them All! gets to the action quickly. You choose Asterix or Obelix and start clearing the screen almost immediately. It’s straightforward beat ’em up action with familiar characters, so you won’t need a long introduction before the fighting starts.
Recompile Explores A Digital Mainframe
Recompile takes place inside a digital mainframe and plays as a 3D science-fiction Metroidvania. You control a semi-sapient program trying to avoid deletion while searching for a way through the Mainframe.
Platforming and combat take you deeper into the digital world, but hacking is what separates Recompile from the other two games. It lets you change parts of the environment and work around enemies, so exploration isn’t tied to one fixed path.
The digital setting is unlike the other two games, and I like the idea of figuring out how the Mainframe works instead of following one path from beginning to end.
The Smurfs Fight Back Against Vileaf
The Smurfs – Mission Vileaf is a 3D platform adventure about saving the Smurfs’ forest from Gargamel’s newest creation. Vileaf plants release toxic Viletrap seeds that can capture Smurfs and damage the surrounding forest.
Handy Smurf’s Smurfizer cleans up that damage. It heals corrupted plants and helps the Smurfs reach areas they couldn’t otherwise access as they move through the forest.
Mission Vileaf goes for a lighter adventure, with colourful forest areas and a cleanup goal tied directly to the platforming. If you’d rather explore than clear another screen of enemies, this is the one that makes more sense.
Three New Games For Three Different Moods
Asterix & Obelix is straight beat ’em up action. Recompile turns to science-fiction exploration and hacking, while The Smurfs follows a more traditional 3D platform adventure.
My first stop would be Recompile because its digital mainframe has the most unusual idea of the three. Asterix & Obelix would come next when I want something faster and more direct, with The Smurfs there when platforming and exploration sound better than another fight.
Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All!, Recompile, and The Smurfs – Mission Vileaf are all available now on PHYND.
