The popular third-party PlayStation streaming solution, Asobi Remote Play, has officially expanded beyond Apple and Android ecosystems with surprise PlayTest releases on both Steam and Meta Quest. Developer inchenzo shared an update detailing how last-minute approvals led to an overwhelming surge in player interest, racking up over 5,000 Steam playtesters in just 48 hours.
Originally planned as a routine maintenance week focused on relay testing for Apple devices and feature additions for companion app Midori, development accelerated rapidly when Valve greenlit the Steam test build. After adjusting a minor store setting for third-party account access, the PlayTest was approved and immediately published, sparking a massive influx of waiting players that continues to climb.
On the virtual reality side, the Meta Quest PlayTest also went live, granting VR users access to PlayStation Remote Play and PS Plus Premium cloud streaming capabilities. The Quest build features Asobi’s signature curved virtual display, allowing players to stream PS4, PS5, and PlayStation Cloud titles on a massive screen within their VR environment.
With a newly overhauled internet video streaming pipeline and upcoming client updates, Asobi continues to build serious momentum in the cloud and handheld gaming community.
