Big changes are coming to Rainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft has announced that the Siege X Showcase on March 13, 2025, will reveal major updates to tactical gameplay, graphics, and audio, along with other improvements.
A teaser shown during the Six Invitational championship weekend hinted at these upcoming changes. Players can get their first look at what’s next for Rainbow Six Siege during the event, which will be livestreamed on March 13 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on the official Rainbow Six Siege Twitch channel.
Here’s everything we know so far about the Siege X Showcase, Operation Prep Phase, and the newest Operator, Rauora.
Operation Prep Phase Introduces Rauora and the D.O.M. Launcher
Rainbow Six Siege will kick off Year 10 with Operation Prep Phase, introducing a new Attacker, Rauora. She brings a new tactical gadget, the Deployable Omnilink Mesh (D.O.M.) Launcher, a bulletproof device that fortifies doorways, blocks movement, and controls sightlines.
Rauora will be available at launch through the Operation Prep Phase Battle Pass and can be unlocked two weeks later using Renown or R6 Credits.
Rauora’s Loadout and New Secondary Weapon
Rauora, an Attacker from New Zealand, brings a versatile arsenal to the fight. She can equip either the 417 designated marksman rifle or the M249 light machine gun as her primary weapon. For her secondary, she carries the GSH-18 pistol or the new Reaper MK2 machine pistol, which comes with a red dot sight and extended magazine, making it effective in close-quarters combat.
Her gadget-focused playstyle is supported by smoke grenades or breach charges, giving her flexibility in attack strategies.
How the D.O.M. Launcher Works
The D.O.M. Launcher deploys bulletproof panels in doorways, reshaping how teams move and control engagements. Unlike traditional barricades, these smart panels fully seal the doorway but can detect approaching drones, briefly lifting to let them pass before closing again.
Both Attackers and Defenders can interact with the barrier, opening or closing it as needed, but Attackers have key advantages:
- Defenders cannot open the panel immediately after deployment, giving Attackers an advantage.
- Attackers can open and close the panel faster, allowing for more aggressive plays.
These mechanics allow Attackers to dictate movement, control sightlines, and create new tactical opportunities.
Countering the D.O.M. Launcher
While bulletproof, Rauora’s barriers are not explosion-proof and have several counters:
- Oryx can charge through them.
- Tubarão’s Zoto Canister disrupts their function.
- Jäger’s ADS can intercept the gadget before deployment.
- Explosives like Ash’s breaching rounds can destroy them.
The Future of Rainbow Six Siege Begins with Siege X Showcase
With new gameplay mechanics, an additional Operator, and upgraded visuals and audio, Year 10 marks a significant shift for Rainbow Six Siege. The Rainbow Six Siege X Showcase will offer the first detailed look at these changes, giving players insight into what’s ahead.
How will Rauora’s D.O.M. Launcher impact match dynamics? What role will the new tactical updates play in shaping the meta? More details will be revealed during the Siege X Showcase on March 13.
