Slime Rancher 2 Gets Massive Update in 1.0 Version

The long-awaited v1.0 update for Slime Rancher 2, titled “A Hero in Time,” is now available. It brings the final chapter of Beatrix LeBeau’s journey to a close. Monomi Park has released this massive content patch for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The update introduces a new area, a fresh slime, and a host of new features that promise to enhance the ranching experience.

As the story of Slime Rancher 2 gets a conclusion, players must venture deep into the Grey Labyrinth. They aim to uncover the source of a mysterious power threatening not only Rainbow Island but the entire Far, Far Range. This journey takes Beatrix to the Prismacore, a brand-new zone filled with puzzles and dangers. It’s here that the secrets of the Labyrinth and the fate of Rainbow Island are revealed. The story, developed throughout the game’s Early Access period, culminates in a final confrontation. A new friend named Gigi helps players solve the mystery.

New Tools and Friends

To help with this final adventure, Monomi Park has added various new tools and gadgets. The Quantum Drones from the first game make a return, now with an upgrade. These can now switch between two modes: Rancher, which automates farming and slime care at the Conservatory, and Explorer, which harvests resources in the wilds of Rainbow Island. These resources are instantly added to the new Quantum Cloud inventory. This makes resource management much easier. To keep these drones running, players must build Drone Stations to charge and program them with plorts.

In addition to the drones, players can find new vacpack upgrades and gadgets, which should make traversing much more efficient. A new, electric slime called the Hyper Slime has also been added. These speedy creatures are difficult to contain and will keep even the most seasoned ranchers on their toes.

More Updates to Come in the Future

The v1.0 update also adds a number of other features to the game. Achievement hunters on all platforms can now begin earning achievements, with some retroactively unlocked. The game’s map UI has also been updated to show Quantum Drone locations and the new Grey Labyrinth zones. The developers have also made a number of quality-of-life changes, from a shiny gold makeover for loot pots to the ability to hide the HUD for better screenshots.

Monomi Park also assures players that while this may be the end of the current storyline, it is not the end of the road for Slime Rancher 2. The team is already working on the next update, which will include more balances, fixes, and new gameplay content.
