In a show of good faith, Google has done what a lot of folks were hoping they’d do – they’ve developed a standalone tool that will unlock the Bluetooth capabilities of your Stadia Controllers! Here is the tweet:
With both the game and hardware purchase refunds having largely completed at this point, everyone who purchased a Stadia controller, should have gotten their money back – we all have here. So, these Bluetooth controllers are essentially free of cost. For many people, the Stadia Controller is their favorite controller to use as well!
While you could previously use the Stadia controller wirelessly on your PC with some clever workarounds and community tools, this “self-serve tool” looks like it should enable general Bluetooth support. As the tweet from Stadia says, check back in on their twitter account next week for details.
A Final Stadia Game
In addition, the Stadia team is giving Stadians one final game to play – Worm Game!
The team says: “Play the game that came to Stadia before Stadia came to the world. ‘Worm Game’ is a humble title we used to test many of Stadia’s features, starting well before our 2019 public launch, right through 2022.” You can find the game live on Stadia now!
We think both of these action are a nice touch from Google and the Stadia team. There was clearly a lot of passion for the service at Google. We hope them all the best on their next gaming adventures.
For those still stinging from the shutdown announcement, we admit that nothing is quite a replacement for what Stadia was… But, we’ve got some alternatives for you to check out. And, we are going to continue to fight for the cloud-first technology, games and features we loved from Stadia throughout the Cloud Gaming space.
Wasabi for life!
