The First Descendant S3E3 Arrives with Xbox Play Anywhere Support

NEXON has officially launched The First Descendant Season 3 Episode 3: Unveiled Truth, introducing the frost-themed hero Dia to the popular looter shooter. While the update brings a wealth of new content, including dungeons and weapons, the biggest news for multi-platform users is the addition of Xbox Play Anywhere support. This feature allows players to sync progress and purchases between Xbox consoles and PC via the Xbox app.

Meet Dia: The Glacial Spear-Wielder

The star of the update is Dia, a skill-focused “dealer” who utilizes an ice lance to control the battlefield. Her kit is designed for AoE damage and crowd control. Her signature ability, Glacial Clash, allows her to thrust forward with her spear. Which can be held to transition into Glacial Breakthrough for continuous movement and damage.

Dia also brings tactical options with Ice Wall, an avalanche that pulls enemies together, setting them up for damage from her spear. Players can customize her playstyle with Transcendent Modules like “Blooming Ecstasy,” which turns her skills into explosive traps.

New Content: Undersea Bases and Ultimate Weapons

The update expands the world of Ingris with the Exposed Undersea Base, a new Infiltration Operation located on the coast of Axion. This dungeon introduces the Sarcophage boss and a new elite monster mechanic that rewards players with buffs for successful evasions.

To tackle these threats, two new Ultimate Weapons have joined the arsenal:

  • E-Buster: An electric-attribute weapon that scales with homing projectiles.
  • Eye of the Storm: A versatile beam rifle capable of switching between “Typhoon Mode” (targeting 8 enemies at once) and “Storm Mode” (massive single-target damage).

Xbox Ecosystem, Game Pass, and Handheld Play

NEXON is leaning heavily into the Xbox ecosystem this season. Starting today, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can claim an exclusive Premium DLC pack featuring back attachments, weapon skins, and unique paints. The addition of Xbox Play Anywhere functionality means that your progress, “Caliber” currency, and skins will follow you across your Xbox Series X|S and your PC (via the Xbox PC App).

However, players should temper their expectations regarding handheld performance for the time being. Despite the new connectivity, the game currently does not have an official “Handheld” tag as it hasn’t been officially tested yet. Many in the community are hoping that upcoming optimizations will improve stability and frame rates to make the experience fully playable on the ROG Ally and similar handhelds.
