There are now well over 250 games on Stadia. And, unlike many other platforms, the games are carefully gated and curated by the Stadia team. By no means has every best selling game hit the platform, but the converse is mostly true – a surprisingly large fraction of the games available on Stadia are winners!
Let’s look at one way to classify the top 10 Stadia games. That’s to look at sales – not just on Stadia but across all platforms. Note that, by definition, this list doesn’t count free to play games.
There are many lists of the top 50 selling games of all time – including this one from Wikipedia. However, beyond the top 50, things get quite a bit murkier. We’ve searched for games individually and list the source for our projection where possible, but this list should be taken as a best effort and with a grain of salt. Think we missed something? Destiny 2
Without a doubt, Destiny 2 is the most played game on Stadia by hours. A quick look at Stadia Hunters stats makes that clear (and before it was retired the larger data set at StadiaStats.gg corroborated this). You can also see on our stats page that it has consistently had over 5,000 players a day on Stadia.
It seems quite reasonable to expect that Destiny 2 could be on this top 10 sellers list as well. However, other than selling 1.9 million copies in its first week, there aren’t any other official sales numbers available. The Steam stats site steamdb.info suggests ownership in the 10s of millions on PC alone. But, the base game is also now free to play on all platforms.
For now, we’ll leave Destiny 2 as a Wildcard.
