Xbox has confirmed that side-scrolling RPG brawler, Towerborne, will receive its full launch on February 26th 2026. Up until now, the game has been part of Game Preview.
With this full launch, Towerborne will move away from its free-to-play model with the introduction of a paid standard and deluxe edition. Players will own the complete experience of the game, which will now include offline play but will also still feature online co-op.
The move to take the game away from an always-online model has been a deep one, and it will ensure a mor eplayer friendly experience for Towerbrone.
Another piece of big news is that alongside the full launch of the game, Towerborne will also be coming to the PlayStation 5. At the moment, the game has only been playable on Xbox consoles or Steam. Of course, the game can also be played in the cloud on both Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce NOW.
February 26th will see a huge change of direction for Towerborne. Below is a small snippet of what you can expect to see in the full launch:
- A complete story & final showdown: We have an updated and complete story, a full narrative arc featuring a major antagonist, new side quests, and an overhauled Bounty Board.
- Who’s the boss?: we’ve added two new bosses, including the big bad boss (that would be the antagonist we mentioned), lieutenants, and umbra enemies.
- Fully reworked difficulty system: we’ve added an entirely new difficulty system, a complete rebalance of the game, and a new ‘Brutal’ difficulty for those who enjoy breaking controllers and swearing at their screens.
- Map it out: we’ve reworked and reimagined the World Map and added a new coastal biome.
- New Encounters & Combat Challenges: we’ve added new gear and player abilities, a new Forge system with the ability to modify, upgrade, and re-roll stats
