Treyarch’s Zombies team has released a lot of new information on “Ashes of the Damned.” This new round-based map launches with Black Ops 7 on November 14. The new details cover environments, weapons, enemies, and game modes. They share a broad look at the upcoming undead experience.
The narrative for Black Ops 7 Zombies picks up after the events of Black Ops 6. A combined eight-person crew, including familiar faces like Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo, and Richtofen, are transported to a new part of the Dark Aether. This realm is described as a “Bermuda Triangle” where fractured locations from different timelines collide. It creates a surreal and dangerous environment. The map features six main locations with roads connecting them.
A new Wonder Vehicle, “Ol’ Tessie,” is a repairable and upgradable pickup truck. It will be crucial for navigating these treacherous roads. The new Wonder Weapon, the “Necrofluid Gauntlet,” is a sinister, living artifact. It can manipulate a viscous fluid to impale enemies from a distance.
New Threats and Traversal
“Ashes of the Damned” introduces a new roster of foes. The Ravagers are scavenging creatures that can latch onto vehicles. Meanwhile, the Zursa is a hulking, armored undead bear. It can maul players and unleash swarms of parasitic “Zombees.” The update also confirms changes to enemy behavior. This includes a reduced frequency of “Super Sprinters” and a simplification of armored zombie mechanics. Their armor is now more vulnerable.
To aid in traversal, Jump Pads will be scattered across the map. They allow for rapid movement for a small Essence fee. A new, grotesque Saw Blade Trap can also be activated. It lures and shreds approaching zombie hordes.

Expanded Modes and Customization
Black Ops 7 Zombies launches with several modes beyond the standard experience. Standard mode is for experienced players, while Directed offers a streamlined, objective-focused path. Survival mode returns, providing a tight, focused challenge on a smaller portion of the map. This mode will be playable in the upcoming Black Ops 7 Beta.
A new Cursed mode is introduced for hardcore players. This mode starts with no Loadout and no minimap, using a point system inspired by Black Ops 3. Players must find Relics, powerful artifacts that provide debuffs. These make subsequent matches more challenging, in exchange for unique rewards. The new progression systems include 30 weapons to level up, weapon prestige, and the return of a loadout system that includes GobbleGums.
Other new and returning features include the ability to recycle GobbleGums for Essence. There is an updated Salvage drop system, and new Power-Ups are also included. The game will introduce Wisp Tea, a new Perk-a-Cola. It summons a protective companion wisp after a certain number of zombie kills. A new Overheal mechanic will allow players to temporarily increase their maximum health. This is possible with certain Augments and Equipment.

In addition to its launch on consoles and PC, Black Ops 7 will be available from day one on cloud gaming platforms. This allows players to dive into the new Zombies content from a wide range of devices. It ensures a seamless, high-performance experience for those who prefer to stream their games. They do not need a traditional console or powerful computer.
