Ubisoft Announces Rainbow Six Siege X Launching June 10

Amidst the thrilling Rainbow Six Siege X announcement, characters in tactical gear are locked in a tense standoff on the game cover, capturing the essence of strategic warfare.

Today, at the Siege X Showcase, Ubisoft officially announced Rainbow Six Siege X, a major update introducing a new 6v6 mode, gameplay improvements, and a free-to-play model. Set to launch on June 10, Siege X marks the biggest evolution of the game to date, bringing new mechanics while maintaining its signature tactical gameplay.

A closed beta for Siege X will run from March 13-19, giving players a first look at Dual Front, the game’s new objective-based 6v6 mode. This beta will also showcase updated maps, destructible elements, and enhanced movement mechanics. Ubisoft is offering beta access through Twitch Drops, allowing viewers to unlock entries by watching partnered streams.

The update also introduces R6 ShieldGuard, a new anti-cheat system aimed at improving security and reducing toxicity. Ubisoft plans to rework maps, roll out seasonal updates, and showcase Siege X at an esports event in May.

Rainbow Six Siege X Introduces 6v6 Mode, Map Reworks, and Gameplay Enhancements

Rainbow Six Siege X introduces Dual Front, a new 6v6 mode designed for tactical team play. Unlike the traditional Attackers vs. Defenders format, this mode lets you mix operators from both sides, creating new strategies. Teams must capture three enemy sectors while defending their own on District, a map built specifically for this mode. Between objectives, you can take on Neutral Sector assignments, completing side tasks to gain an edge.

Dual Front also introduces respawns, letting you return to the action and switch operators mid-match. Operator selections will rotate twice per season, ensuring a new experience. Ubisoft says this makes Siege X more accessible while keeping its strategic depth intact.

In this intense first-person shooter scene reminiscent of Rainbow Six Siege, soldiers clad in tactical gear advance cautiously, their rifles aimed with precision at a distant target in the corridor. The atmosphere crackles with tension as they prepare for a strategic assault.

Beyond the new mode, Siege X enhances core gameplay. Map reworks improve visuals with updated lighting, shadows, and 4K textures. At launch, Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Kafe will receive upgrades, with more coming each season. Environmental destruction expands with new fire extinguishers, gas pipes, and metal detectors, creating more tactical opportunities.

Ubisoft is also improving movement and sound design. Rappelling will feel smoother, with horizontal movement and the ability to jump around corners. A revamped audio system will help players pinpoint enemy locations through clearer sound propagation and reverb.

Rainbow Six Siege X Beta Runs March 13-19, Full Launch on June 10

Ubisoft is giving gamers an early look at Rainbow Six Siege X with a closed beta from March 13-19 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The beta includes the full Dual Front mode, a roster of 35 operators, and a preview of gameplay updates like new destructible elements and improved rappelling.

When Siege X launches on June 10, the game will shift to a free-to-play model. New players can access Dual Front, Quick Play, and Unranked, with the option to unlock 26 operators through gameplay progression. Ranked Mode and Siege Cup will remain available for premium players who reach level 50.

Ubisoft is also updating its anti-cheat system with R6 ShieldGuard, which unifies existing protections and adds live security updates to prevent exploits without scheduled maintenance. Anti-toxicity initiatives will expand with an improved reputation system designed to create a fairer matchmaking environment.

Ahead of launch, Siege X will be featured in the RELOAD esports competition in Brazil from May 8-18, showcasing its modernized maps and new tactical elements.

Rainbow Six Siege X Marks a Major Shift for the Series

Ubisoft is making big changes with Rainbow Six Siege X. The free-to-play shift, 6v6 Dual Front mode, and visual upgrades show a clear effort to modernize the game while keeping its tactical roots intact. The March beta gives gamers a chance to try the changes early, and Ubisoft’s esports event in May will showcase the game’s evolution before launch.

With new gameplay mechanics, operator rotations, and a refreshed progression system, Siege X is positioned as a major overhaul. The question is—will these updates win over longtime fans while attracting new players?
