Ubisoft has announced a new leadership group for Assassin’s Creed at Vantage Studios, the Ubisoft subsidiary overseeing the franchise. The company has appointed three long-time series veterans to roles covering brand strategy, creative direction, and how the games get made.
Martin Schelling, Jean Guesdon, and François de Billy will step into their new roles over the next few weeks. They’ll join the existing Assassin’s Creed leadership group that includes Andrée-Anne Boisvert and Lionel Hiller.
Martin Schelling Takes Over Brand Strategy And Long-Term Direction
Martin Schelling has been named Head of Assassin’s Creed Brand. Ubisoft says he’ll be responsible for the franchise’s overall strategy and long-term direction.
Ubisoft also points to Schelling’s history on major entries including Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed Origins, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Most recently, Schelling served as Ubisoft’s Chief Production Officer, a company-wide role tied to development workflow changes.
Jean Guesdon Becomes The Franchise’s Head Of Content
Jean Guesdon has been appointed Head of Content for Assassin’s Creed. He’ll lead the brand’s overall creative direction, support individual games, and guide where the franchise goes next while keeping it aligned with the series’ core identity.
Guesdon’s credits go back to the original Assassin’s Creed in 2007. Ubisoft also notes his work as Creative Director on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Origins.
François De Billy Steps Into A Production-Focused Leadership Role
François de Billy is now Head of Production Excellence for Assassin’s Creed. In this role, he will strengthen production practices and improve delivery across the brand.
De Billy more recently served as Production Director on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Assassin’s Creed Origins. Ubisoft describes him internally as someone who improves processes across large projects.
The Team Joins Existing Assassin’s Creed Leadership
Ubisoft says the three new leaders will join the Assassin’s Creed leadership team alongside:
- Andrée-Anne Boisvert, Producer for Assassin’s Creed cross-brand initiatives and Head of Technological Excellence
- Lionel Hiller, VP Brand and Go-to-Market Strategy
Ubisoft also says Schelling, Guesdon, and de Billy have worked together across multiple Assassin’s Creed entries over the years, covering creative leadership, production, and brand strategy.
A Clearer Chain Of Command For The Franchise
Ubisoft is putting defined leadership in place for Assassin’s Creed across brand direction, creative oversight, and production coordination. Over the next few weeks, Martin Schelling, Jean Guesdon, and François de Billy will transition into their new roles alongside Andrée-Anne Boisvert and Lionel Hiller as part of the franchise’s leadership group.
