Xbox and Amazon Strike a New Partnership?

Do you remember back in the day, with Stadia, when you could just play your games on nearly any device? Well, Xbox is getting closer and closer to that reality. Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) is landing on select Amazon Fire TV devices starting July. This collaboration between Microsoft and Amazon brings a massive library of titles to your living room. Accessible through the dedicated Xbox app.

Fire TV 4K Max (2023) and Fire TV Stick 4K (2023) owners are the chosen few! These devices will be the first to support Xbox Cloud Gaming. Allowing you to play hundreds of high-quality games directly on your TV. Currently, there is no word on when support for older devices is coming yet. All you need is a compatible Fire TV Stick, a Bluetooth controller (such as an Xbox controller, or even a Luna controller), and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

The details

This is a game-changer (pun intended) for those who don’t own an Xbox console. Xbox Cloud Gaming lets you stream games directly from Microsoft’s servers, eliminating the need for expensive hardware. Dive into epic adventures like Starfield and Senua’s Sage: Hellblade II. Or revisit classics like the Fallout franchise (The Amazon TV show is definitely worth a watch!) and the Gears of War Collection. All from the comfort of your couch. Additionally, you will be able to play upcoming games such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle!

We’re thrilled to bring the Xbox experience to even more players, Fire TV users can now enjoy a vast library of games without needing a console

Ashley McKissick, Corporate VP of Xbox Experiences and Platforms

This unlikely collaboration makes gaming on Fire TV more exciting than ever. “We’re committed to providing easy access to entertainment experiences.” says Daniel Rausch, VP of Fire TV and Alexa at Amazon. “With the Xbox app on Fire TV, gamers can enjoy a fantastic selection of high-quality titles. Now you can play your favorite games anywhere, with just a Fire TV Stick, controller, and Game Pass Ultimate subscription.”

This does give me hope that there will be an official Xbox app coming to the Chromecast with Google TV. A feat in which even Stadia didn’t achieve! Get ready to experience the power of Xbox Cloud Gaming on Fire TV devices this July.
