XBOX is working on an answer to PlayStation Platinum trophies, with CEO Asha Sharma saying the team has “something” in development for later in 2026. Sharma made the comment on X after being asked when XBOX would address the lack of a Platinum trophy equivalent for achievements. Windows Central reported the exchange on August 5.
Sharma kept her response short, writing, “Team is working on something for later this year!” That confirms work is underway, but XBOX has not announced what the feature will be called, how it will work, or exactly how game completion will be recognized.
Asha Sharma Responds To Platinum Trophy Request
PlayStation uses Platinum trophies as a separate way to recognize completing a game’s required trophy set. XBOX achievements contribute to Gamerscore, but XBOX has also started doing more to recognize completed games.
Earlier this year, XBOX introduced a 100% completion highlight in achievement lists when all available Gamerscore for a game has been earned. At the time, XBOX described that change as an early step toward finding more ways to recognize completion and milestone moments.
That makes Sharma’s August 5 response particularly interesting. XBOX already has a way to identify completed games, so the “something” being developed came in direct response to a request for an equivalent to PlayStation’s Platinum trophy. Sharma did not say whether the new feature will build on the existing 100% marker or take a different approach.
For achievement hunters, that distinction is important. A 100% completion highlight can show that you finished the available achievement list, but it is not a separate completion award like a Platinum trophy.
XBOX Hasn’t Detailed Its Platinum Trophy Answer Yet
The biggest unknown is what XBOX actually plans to introduce. Sharma did not confirm a new achievement type, badge, bonus Gamerscore, special profile marker, or any other specific implementation.
There is also no confirmed release date beyond later in 2026. That means it is too early to call this an XBOX Platinum trophy system, even if the question that prompted Sharma’s response was specifically asking for a Platinum equivalent.
For now, the confirmation itself is the news. XBOX is working on something in response to the Platinum-equivalent request, and Sharma has only narrowed the timing to later in 2026.
