Did Phil Spencer Just Tease The New Xbox Streaming Stick?

Eagle eyed folks on twitter (@Nibellion) noticed the following new (smaller than a controller) device on Phil Spencer’s shelf in his latest twitter post.

Is this a tease of the new Xbox streaming device?

The Xbox team mentioned that such a device was on its way over a year ago (all the way back at E3 2021). Back in May of this year, Microsoft confirmed the device is still on the way with codename “Keystone” and will support Xbox Cloud Streaming and (we are assuming) other video streaming apps like Netflix.

It will be interesting to see if Microsoft allows any other game streaming apps on the device when it is released. Microsoft did, however, announce that with your Game Pass Ultimate subscription you would be able to begin streaming (at least some) games you own on Xbox that aren’t part of the subscription itself. So, that should give this little device a pretty sizeable library of games.

It also looks like the device has a USB port on the front (like the Series consoles) so will likely support all of Xbox wireless, bluetooth and wired controllers. This would be a boon for gamers. You can use a wired controller with your CCwGTV only if you dangle a USB-C hub off the end of it, for example, and it doesn’t support Xbox wireless – leaving bluetooth as the main option.

Stay tuned here as you can bet we’ll be reviewing this device when it hits the streets!
